Default xB or tC

im in a real bind....
and i could you some of your help and opinions because im in one of those situations were a few peoples input could mean the difference between what my next vehicle is.
my brother works at the toyota dealership im planning on buying from and hes already had one of the workers hold aside some 18" TRD rims for the xB which will make the cost about the same as a stock tC which is currently my favorite of the current car styles.
any experiences or info on gas mileage (better if more relevent to cali) and before you flame me i have read up on all of them but still have not test driven either to the extent that helps determine a purchase. i really need opinions.
im about 6'3" and a lil hefty, so if anyone in the same boat could give some info.

thanks all, and i have to hand it to you all here at scion life for being such a constant help.

I have an automatic 05 tC and a manual 05 xB.
I really like both of the cars but would take a manual tC if I could only have one.
Bought the automatic tC for the wife to drive.

If you like cars that are easy to see out of then xB. The tC is much more closed off as far as windows go. The xB is HUGE inside. I am 6' tall and there is almost a foot of room over my head.

I would go with the xB, I am 6'2" 350 and fit in it qutie well. It gets good milage and I like the styling a lot better than the tc ( just my opinion)
good luck

I have always been more into power and speed, but I think I would choose the xB. You can do so much more to it to make it original and your own. It gets better gas mileage too.

If you like a car that rattles and has alot of problems go with the tC ;)

But if you like a well put together car which has alot of room on the interior, and not alot of them are riced out (unlike the tC), then definetly go with the xB.

Oh, and did I mention HUGE blind spots on the tC. Good luck being able to see out the side by turning your head, it won't happen.

I have a tC for myself and just got a xB for my wife. Mine is manual hers is auto. But the xB is great for space and the tC for spirited driving.

But if gas mileage is a concern, you will be disappointed with the tC. My mom gets 10mpg more in her xB than I do in my tC.

The tC will also cost more to insure.

I am 6'2". I just sat in a TC today. My head grazed the ceiling. I would get an xb. Both cars are sharp. It just depends what your looking for. Myself I'm a soccer dad and my 3 kids are big. I opted for an xb. Which I like

6' 5 340 lbs and I fit into our xB better than I did my Camaro when I had one. I only drive my suburban to work and back and we take the box everywhere else. The wife is 5' 8 and the only change we need for me to drive it is to lean the seat back a little and adjust the rear view mirror. Very comfortable and easy to drive. I had only sat in one before we bought ours so the first time I drove one was when we drove it off the lot after delivery.

You can get the tc but if you have 3 friends that you want to take some place, good luck getting one into the backseat behind the drivers seat. With the xB you could take 4 friends!

Completely satisfied witht he xB and saving to get another I can wrench on.

Totally different cars.

I got the xB for its storage, headroom, gas mileage, etc.

A box and a sports coupe are two completely different concepts and
as you can tell by the responses appeal to different people.

Both are great vehicles and both are selling (at least in Dallas) for higher prices used than they are new. I'm from California. IMHO, the xB will suit you for mileage, but buy what you want to drive. You don't want to hate your car after you've purchased it.

I'm assuming you've driven both? If not, get down to the dealership and have your brother take you out in each vehicle. Weigh the pros & cons of your personal experience. I love the tC. I fit in it the same way I do my PT Cruiser. I'm 6'1" and have to hunch down a bit to see the signal lights at intersections in the tC same as my PT, but it's a lot of fun to drive. Do you like to sit high with good visibility all around, or do you mind sitting low? What do you drive now?

The thing that keeps me going back to the xB is the interior room and mileage. The tC has the panorama sunroof and smooth 5spd tranmission that I love. I haven't decided because I have a way to go yet... but I'll probably go for the tC, since I like all the features, (it's like a date-car for me and my wife) and can fit my kids in an emergency.
