xB US Crash Test is out
4-Stars frontal driver/passenger
3-stars side front, 4-star side rear (looks like the next Scions xB/or replacement may come with SAB per Marketing's request).

I wonder if the additional lenght of the front bumpers made it worse. The bB is short up front I think. I Demand a recount!

It looks like it did exactly what it was supposed to do on the frontal impact. The entire front crumpled to absorb as much energy as possible, while maintaining the integrity of the safety cage. This is evident by the fact that the windshield appears to be unbroken and the front doors might even open......proof that the "crash intrusion" stopped at the firewall.
Not too bad, IMO.

All things. Considered I think its rather good. Considering it is one of the cheapest cars on the market.. oh Btw the comment about the rear comming off the ground I would imagine that would happen in many other cars.. I've seen that happen in a Saab 9-5 before.. But hey At least I know I'm safe if someone decides to drive british style
Nearly all vehicles have their rears leave the ground on an impact like that. The front stops and the inertia in the rear keeps moving foward, only it can't beacuse the safety cage dosen't fold very easily. So, the rear does the only thing it can....go up. It usually happens once the crumple zone is depleted.
Pefectly normal.

There is an interior trunk release, if you remove tha back panel on the hatch and it the small lever above the latch. Not exactly convient, more of a safety measure. I used it when I had my battery disconnected and someone shut the door by accident.
The A frame, door, and lower fram remained in excellent shape without bending. This car is awsome for head on's. Normally there is bend in the A frame. I've been on many fatality scenes and other bad crashes. I cant believe how well the driver area keeps its form.
The side impact has me nervous now though. Looks like it really caved in, plus no side air curtains=head hitting whatever is outside your window.
