Default You Guys Are Starting to Worry Me

Hey everybody, I was just going through some of the topics and I'm beginning to get worried. I'm the proud new owner of a polar white Xb, I love this car more than any other one(car) I've owned so far. I'm reading the topics and I want to know some more details on the windshield cracking and A/C problems some of you are having. I think you guys are going to paranoy me, should I be ?

I went and got the TSB done on the AC..it seems to work better...you drive a box and everything seems to hit it...from rocks to birds.....so far a few chips but no cracks although some folks have had cracks occasionally.. I wouldn't worry too much..I have 22,000 miles in mine

Thanks for a prompt reply, I appreciate it. I did have a semi on the freeway last week smack my windshield with a rock, but it didn't seem to do much damage, just a small chip. Everyone I show it to asks me if I'm sure its not a bug. Not sure if I know what you're refering to by having TSB done to your A/C, could you please elaborate on that one for me please.

LOL

If you can scratch it off...its a bug, if not its a chip.

I've got about six chips now in one year my husband has two in 5 months! We hate it too!!!

Don't drive on the freeway and you won't get chips...here in Corona (on the I-15) there are craploads of gravel trucks ready to spray their load on you (that sounds a bit dirty ;))

The most important thing to remember when owning a box is, make very sure you have glass breakage on the comprehensive coverage of your insurance policy. It doesn't cost all that much to add it to your policy, and it can save you HUNDREDS of dollars. I have it, and if I ever need a winshield fixed or replaced, it's 100% free with no deductable. We've already used it once a few years ago on a different car.

a TSB is a Technical Service Bulletin...this is a memo to the dealerships that there is a widespread problem with a certain model that many people will want to get fixed under warranty...Toyota will send information about the problem (how to diagnose and fix/replace) to the dealer so if anyone comes in complaining about the problem, they'll have instruction on how to fix it the first time.....these are not recalls because they won't cause harm to the owner....each problem has a bulletin and a TSB number...

Good explanation, I'll add to it.

There was a problem with the 04 and earlier 05 xB's where the A/C would not blow cold enough. Toyota issued the TSB and made the change in the factory. If yours is new, you need not worry about this particular TSB, as it has been fixed for a while.

I had the problem, I took it to the dealer, they took 8 hours to fix it. I get a rental and cold A/C for free.

You know what. I blame ScionLife I read about windshield being rock magents and the xB being spider homes. And in the last two weeks i've had both a cracked windshield and a red juping spider in my box. To be honest though, that rock hit the windshield so hard that NO CAR could have survived that. It actually looked like a small bullet hit the windshield, perfectly circular starbust with a compressed/crushed center. Whew, well, both are now taken care of..

Damn spider almost killed me on the freeway. He paid for this with his life.

Did I mention I'm afraid of spiders?

I think our xb's are more susceptible from flying rock damage because of the more vertical angle of the front glass, so that when a rock coming at it hits it, it tends to create the chips and cracks rather than deflecting off. I've replaced it once because a small crack eventually found its way across the wind shiled. Now my new glass has a few tiny rock chips, but no cracks. these all occured from driving on the fwy, coming back from vegas...

Had mine a year. No glass problems. Air works fine.

Get the glass insurance mentioned earlier. Its worth it for an xB.

Go buy your xB!!!

I've gotten all my rocks chips on the I-15 going to CA and back!!

I have the free rock chip coverage but haven't used it yet.

OH and I LOVE how the gravel companies have that new sticker now:

PLEASE STAY 200 FEET BEHIND NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ROCK CHIPS ON WINDOWS! Whatever!! Cover your shiit! lol

Get the box and you'll be so happy the chips wont matter! :D

Yeah....isn't that one of the dumbest things you've ever seen? I wonder if we could do that. Couldn't you just see some regular guy in his daily-driver pickup truck with a sign on the back:

Please stay 200 feet behind. I'm too stupid/lazy to properly secure my load, and I'm not paying for your car if something falls off.

Spiders.... yikes! But Superjeer, what I'd like to know is... if you were on the freeway, how you had time to find the camara, (and you even had one,) take photo, kill spider and click a shot of him again??? That's one heck of driving skills!
