2012 Scion xB HID's

Now, I am pretty certain people ask these questions like everyday, but I am a tad bit confused and I would like to ask it in my own way I guess? =P

Anyway, I have a 2012 Scion xB and I was wanting to install HID's on it. Preferably plug in play ones, because I thought you had to wire the ballast to the battery, but from some videos I have seen you do not. So I was wondering on some kits that would be reasonable and fairly easy to install!

My scion is Black Sand Pearl, and so I wanted white lights, but some people suggest blue? I don't know how blue would actually look, opinions?

Also, do the kits come with BOTH low and high beams, or only low beams. I would probably only use the low beams in the city anyway. Just thought I would ask that too though!

If anything is unclear, or maybe I am confused tell me. LOL

6000K's don't look that bad actually, it was a plug and play install eh?

For the most part yes. I purchased the relay harness which is still plug and play minus bolting down the ground and 12v to the battery.

Not difficult at all.

Our cars have separate low and high beams so when you buy a kit, do not get a kit labeled "hi/lo", just get a single bulb kit.

Some kits need a wiring harness to supply power, it all depends on the kit. Some people use it regardless. I got my kit from hidextra without a wiring harness and I've been fine for the past four years. I'm running 5000k, nicely white, hint of blue and not yellow.

Its mostly the older cars that need the relay harness. But as stated above, some people (like me) get it as a precaution.

All you need is a kit for your low beams. You can get a decent kit with the harness for about $50

So would the 2012 xb require a relay harness, and anyone know how much power the stock leads provide the halogens? Like could I go without the relay harness if I was going 35W for the HID's?

There are forum members who have ran their HIDs without a harness and theyve been fine.

I youre thinking about the difficulty of the install with the harness, please dont let it deter you from doing it the right way. Its fairly simple and all you need is basic hand tools. Do it once and do it right

Damn double post!!!

Good point =P
I suppose I might as well do it that way, instead of taking a chance. Even though there is always the chance despite doing it the right way I have heard, least the mind set is there.

Yea, id rather know i did it the right way even if sh!t hits the fan

It's simple.
I'm not too far from you if you want to see what they look like. See my album for pics against the garage at home.
My wife's 2012 has 4300k HID's installed. Got them from e-bay for around $35 shipped. Took about 15 minutes to install (I did not use a relay). I got 4300k because I did not want any blue tint, and even 5000k was too blue for me.

i'm thinking of making the switch to a kit from the retrofit source, and buying their projector lens, and getting rid of the stupid squirrel finders.

and the TRS kit is just way better than HIDxtra.

i mean, they're great and all, but I am very disappointed with the light output.
