Be Aware Of Accessories
Hi, I am a new owner of a Xb. I ordered the bumper protector which is not a bumper protector, and the corp office is unwilling to change their description on the website. The corp office is not helpful for most things.
I love my car, but Scion Corp sucks.
The Scion part is exposed and can be scratched.
I was told by the dealer it was already applied and they could not refund the money. They said in order to remove it, I probably need to go to a repair shop which is more $$$.
I ordered a Bushwacker bumper protector and it is a lot thicker than the "Sticker" that Scion calls a bumper protector.
Sorry to rant, but I going to hit every Scion forum, to see if anyone else has this issue (class action) or suggestions.

This is the tC forum, first of all.
Second, that bumper protector, albeit flimsy and thin, is what it says. It protects against scratches and scuffs. It won't withstand a gouge, but it does what it says. A lot of people have it. Also, don't buy Scion accessories, they are a rip-off in general.

okay...i'm looking at the scion website right now for the bumper protector and all i can find is a rear bumper APPLIQUE! it is an giant sticker that just keeps paint from getting scratched if you keep dragging stuff in and out of your xb.
from the look of the picture i think it does what it promises. what more do you want? oh, and it costs $70 dollars! i want a piece of that class action lawsuit money! whoo!

But there is NO ISSUE.
The description:
Putting junk in your trunk and getting it out can cause extra wear and tear on your xB. This Rear Bumper Protector is made from tough UV-resistant PVC for a long-lasting new car appearance. The pressure sensitive adhesive installs in just minutes.
BTW: the tC one is the one that says rear bumper applique.
sorry... i'm laughing so hard right now!
I do apolgise for laughing at your pain and embaresment, but one look at the "protector / applique" told me that it was a $70 POS that wouldn't cut the mustard...
personally, i dont "drag"things out of my hatch, I "lift". if i were the type of person that just drug stuff out the back though, i would not really expect any overlay to truly protect the bumper. there is always a chance for dimples and gouges. Even the metal BB applique will dent if something hits it hard enough.
the best "protector" is common sence... btw- did you read the disclaimer listed on the scion site about this item? i looked at the page for about 1 second and clearly saw the disclaimer.
also, you can heat up the applique with a hair dryer yourself in the driveway, and pull it off, its not welded on or anything.. no need to spend money at a repair shop. Once its heated up, start pulling it off, then chase it with some adheasive remover and viola your done...
many of us have bought "Scion" accessories in the past, and we have all learned that we could have gotten better aftermarket products for less... like my weak sauce "pedal covers" that were like 50$... I changed them out for carbon fiber ones for about $30, or the "scion illuminiation" under the dash and in 2 of my 3 cupholdersd.. worth $250+, i dont think so.. I could have installed cathodes for about $40... do i have a class action lawsuit... no, but now i know better...
do a little more research before you buy your next accessories, physically look at them, see if they seem to be worth the money, read reviews, and ask advice on the forums before you buy, chances are that someone else has already bought what you want, and can tell you if it has worked out ok for them or not, but dont go slamming scion corporate because they did exactly what they set out to do, sell you an inferior accessory for too much money...

Thanks for IH8ONYU for one of the only respondents that wasn't pretty harsh.
Sorry everyone is having a bad day, and what a great way to make someone feel at home one their first post.:?
Technically it does not say anywhere on the website that the "Scion" logo is not protecting the bumper.
Please excuse my stupidity in thinking, maybe there was a piece of clear vinyl underneath the logo.

I just figured it was Toyota why would they be so stupid.
Like I said, I was the stupid one.
But they still need to state on the website, that it not a bumper protector.
If you go to the site, hit xb, then accessories for interior, it says bumper protector.

Also, there is a backstory about this car and dealership, so this was just another notch in my frustration, but reading through this post again, all I have to say to the people who replied, go screw yourselves. Thanks for letting me come here and get bashed. F*%@ You!!!
Feeling welcome on your first post? Dude... you posted about trying to start some frivolous lawsuit about a BUMPER PROTECTOR that wasn't even their fault... and even said yourself that you going around to all of the Scion forums to do it.
Don't pretend for one second you came here to become part of the community...

Your welcome. Maybe next time you won't make such a stupid first post. lol, class action lawsuit over the fact that you're too stupid to see that the word SCION is cutout.
Dude. I already deleted one of your posts on TN. Your seriously going around and complaining about nothing. You need to rethink your approach. It's not a big deal like you are making it out to be. Your a person who's unhappy about a part they purchased. Welcome to the club, get over it.
P.S. Posting multiple threads is agains't the rules of ALOT of web forums so be careful or your likely to get banned really fast. and this post..............
............isn't going to help you.

All I can think of after reading this is The Emperor from Star Wars: let the hate flow through you...
its like everyone read this and decided to take a dump in this kids mouth.
I think I'll like it here.

i think the problem is that he came on here thinking he was doing a service by badmouthing a product that was clearly labeled, pictured and described, and somehow they swindled and fooled him into buying it, and now he wants to get a class action lawsuit going.
i'm sorry, but people who can't research properly before shopping, especially when all the information is clearly available just need to learn to deal with buyers remorse, and people who think lawsuits are the answer to everything, including stupid purchases or buyer's remorse need to be sterilized in the most painful way possible and decendants wiped from the face of the earth.
