Most of the aftermarket HID kits don't test on the beam patterns. This is mainly due the cost. Take a look at our HID kit (6000K).

We manufacture our own HID in Asia and take necessary actions to have the correct beam pattern.

Yes, all aftermarket HID are illegal due to DOT approval reasons. All factory HID are 4300K. But as long as you stay within 3000K, 5000K, 6000K, and 8000K you are ok and 99% of the time Cops won't even bother you. Unless you run into a Cop that's having a bad mood day.

The Scion brand is all about customizing, and to that extent, preference. I prefer to have much greater clarity while driving, and also a sweet premium look. I tried Super White LED bulbs for my headlights and it was a big mistake. I was fooled by the ads and figured I would get much better lumens using these bulbs than the stock halogens. Well, it didn't work out quite so well for me.

I've done other slight modifications to my car, but I don't plan on modifying too much. I'm all about safety, which is one reason why I chose the xB. It has a lot of safety, good crash test scores, and is a sweet car with features for a great price. The extensive aftermarket modifications was another selling point for me.

@HIDXTRA: So you have another comparable HID kit? How much is yours? I'm liking that yours are set up to be closer to legal beam patterns for my xB. If you can sell me on one of your kits, I'll definitely be interested in picking it up. But I also have heard that at least 9/10 people on these forums prefer Mobile HID specifically because of the quality of the engineering and the excellent customer service. I'm all about rapport.
Our HID will run you $60/kit. I give my respects to Mobile HID since they have started their sponsoring in scionlife forum back in 2006. I'm very certain that as time goes on I'll earn people's trust as I will do all I can to give the best customer service. We've been in this HID business for years. In the past and current we've been manufacturing HID to oversea wholesalers. Just starting this year we've decided to step directly into the end user market directly.
We stand 100% on our HID products and offer 2 year warranty.

HID color temperature will vary from the manufacturer and factory. For our HID that has the white color and tint of blue it would be 6000K.

Maybe I am wrong here. But isnt the beam pattern determined by the light housing and not the actual bulb? So how would your bulb effect the beam pattern?

If the bulbs aren't built/spaced correctly it can also effect the light pattern. It's the reason why people highly recommended to use OEM hid bulbs over china made ones when doing a retro-fit.

That's correct. The main thing about correct beam pattern is to position the center of the HID bulb as the same as the Halogen bulb. The centering of the HID bulb is very critical if it's off slightly by a degree it can cause the beam pattern to scatter. Positioning the HID bulb into the light housing is also another important step. If you position the HID bulb slightly off it will also mess with the beam pattern.

On the left headlight (passenger) it's a 5000K, the left headlight (driver) is 6000K.
The fog lamps in the middle are both 6000K.

Currently I don't have any F150 with 5K, due to our H13 5K is currently out of stock. But I do have the projected picture of F150.

I will try to take pictures of our 5K on other cars. Give me some time on this.

so do the harness have a built in relay or a resistor so it will not burn/fry/melt the stock wires?
i'm asking coz i've heard rumors that some hid kit can burn/fry/melt if the wires doesn't have a built in relay/resistor.

The included wiring harnesses mean that you aren't running the ballasts off of the stock wires.

The MobileHID harness includes a 40 amp relay and a fuse.

The HIDExtra kit sounds like it doesn't need a relay or fuse in their wiring harness due to the chip set they use, but I don't know for sure.

Depending on the type of your car if it requires relay. For scion cars relay is not required. We've done tests and our HID kit wont' burn the wire factory wiring.
