Hi, I'm from Puerto Rico, yesterday I was putting some gas and when start to drive i heard a rare noise, when I close the sun visor or whatever it calls up to the roof, ____, a 6 or 7 inch crack on the windshield. I took my xB to the dealer but they said to came weekdays to be checked by an official of Toyota. I will post a pic tomorrow.
It's normal that the windshield cracks by itself????

Don't feel too bad - same thing happened to me, washing the window, right before my eyes about six inches from the top going down.
Local dealer say 400.00 for replacement windshield and gasket - installation extra. checking local auto glass store for a cheaper price!

 

This is a common problem with 1st Gen xB's that have sunroofs installed.

Windshields are covered by insurance. Mom's xB1 cracked, called AllState, they came to her house and replaced it. It's considered a safety issue I believe.

 

It is a real test for your insurance company - if they replace replace the winshield without raising your rates!
