first post here. just got my Blackberry crush on wednesday! I'm debating on wether to do this in paint or a vinyl,

my concerns being how both will age, affect resale, and just straight up aesthetics...

I have until monday morning to decide between vinyl or paint... thats when I take it in to get the liscense plate holes removed, and a dent taken out of the hood.

thoughts?

 

i second that. hey u ever thought of doing a white one? for those of us that have BSP?

 

Paint will probably age better, but vinyl is easier and cheaper to fix/replace. As for resale, vinyl will be easier because you can just yank it off, paint can be painted over but it'll cost you monies/time.

Aesthetics doesn't really factor in because it will look about the same whether it's paint or vinyl.

 

thanks, I think I will do vinyl. not just because its removeable, but also because it adds a bit of protection to it!

 

The flip side of that is, depending on how long the vinyl is there, you may get a "ghost" of the overlay.

 

this is true, I just took off my clear bra for the body shop. and had to spend about an hour and a half with Turtle Wax rubbing off the seam where bra ended. its a pretty smooth transition now. but since the hood and front bumper cover are getting recleared, and largely repainted. I wasnt to worried. the front fenders, I waxed out... I'll do a bit better job after it all cures out... and then decide if I want to vinyl...

What's the durability of the overlays? How long can I expect it to last?

 

x2 and this is an awesome mod... I will be getting one on my next pay in matte black for my Xb2 its in stingray metallic so black would be best...down side is that I need to have front plates so kinda sucks but still noticable none the less!!

Has anyone taken theirs to a place to get this installed? how much was the install? Im looking for a ball park cause I dont feel like I'd be very good at doing this myself. will post pics when its done, orange vinyl on BSP. should be fun!

 

I finally got a chance to snap some pics on my iPhone. Looks great and install wasn't too bad. Heat is key! I used a hair dryer and that really helped me stretch it and really make it tight over the entire area.

i am thinking about ordering an overlay for my sw xb2. how difficult is it to get the tow hook squares cut out? that's probably my only concern. i might end up trying to find someone to install it for me instead since i'll most likely eff it up. (anyone know anyone that can install this in the l.a. area?)
