Default Question about RS9.0 lower grille

Hey, for any RS9.0 owners, is the SCION lettering molded into the honeycomb of the lower frontgrill or is it a nameplate that can be removed?

If it's integral, could you carefully shave/dremel/sand it off and still have an intact/uninterrupted honeycomb pattern behind it or is the lettering molded through the honeycomb?

I just found a close-up of warphead's RS9.0 grille and it definitely looks like you can't lose the SCION lettering:

Dang it! I really like the honeycomb but, like some others here, have personal issues with excessive branding.

Now, for an interesting question, can you install the OEM fog lights into the RS9.0 grille?

I've looked at the Fog Light housings on my gf's 2011 and because of the Scion lettering, they will not fit. They are too wide.

Also there are no marks on the grille for cutting like there are on the regular grille. If you wanted fog lights it would have to be something custom.

You could spray paint the SCION lettering black so it will blend with the grill and be far less noticeable.

If you carefully examine the grille, you'll notice that the Scion logo is molded with the grille. It's not some plastic external badge that is placed over the honeycomb. Look closely in the letter "N" for confirmation: there is no honeycomb backing behind it. Consequently, this interestingly designed grille has a permanent Scion logo.

If it were me, I'd just go with an aftermarket grille. The idea is cool, but it's a little too ostentatious for me.

If you don't want it there, scoop a new lower grille that's from a non-RS model. You could sell the RS grille for a profit.

I bought a 2012 in SCM just before Christmas and have started to tweak it a little. Just exploring if I could source a clean honeycomb lower and the cowl inserts from an RS9.0 to match my OEM upper grill.
But even blacked out, that SCION lettering is way too much for me and the deal-breaker is the foglamp kit wouldn't fit well.

Just waiting for a >70 day to apply the rear spoiler, and remove the bumper to install the fogs and some Hella Supertones.
I do appreciate the info available on this forum. Thank you, thank you very much.

I was actually wondering the same exact thing!

I hope someone can give us an answer because I really would like that on my Scion.
