Default Question about stock LED Daytime Running Lights

I have a 2012 xB, and was wondering if stock 2014 LED Daytime Running Lights are plug and play. I noticed a harness with plug is sitting behind the plastic caps in my car
right where the lights would go but I have no idea if it's the proper plug for the LED lights, or if they are for fog lights or something.

Has anyone done this?

Have someone w/some basic electrical know-how, use a multimeter to determine if that plug has power & when its active (i.e. when the headlights are off)

BTW, Been running Philips LED DRLs, since new

I can do that easily enough, but what I need to know is if the plug will fit in the newer light housings or not to begin with. Also what are the Phillips DRLs about, is that an aftermarket light that will fit in the bumper holes? If so gotta link to that?

(not the best pic for showing the DRL) This may not be to your liking, but these DRL's were fitted nice & flush in the bumper grill & they are bright!!! I do like the vent location better as you noted

The brand spec = Philips 12820WLEDX1 DayLight 4 High Powered Luxeon LED

I wanted the 2014 xB DRL LEDs, but after looking at them up close I found that they are dim as hell.
So, I went and got some white Maxxima 3/4" Tri-LED Market Lights. They turned out bright and they have give off a unique look.

Amazon sells them, but I got them at a local dealer. They were $8 a piece 3 years ago and I've had no issues with them.

Amazon Amazon
or
eBay

I do not much care for LEDs in those spaces; however, I once owned a Thunderbird which had 'cornering lights' connected to the turn signal switch, so your eyes could see what was around the corner before your headlights did... that’s what I want to make my xB do with those spaces.

Just want to update.....I ended up getting the OEM lights from a dealer through ebay, 100 bucks a piece. They clipped right in place of the plastic hole covers, unfortunately the wire harness that was there was not the correct harness. I even cut off the connector to see if there was power going to it but no dice. So I ordered an LED harness from Amazon, hooks directly to the battery and turns on and off with the ignition, works great.

Was hoping they would be a bit brighter for daytime, but overall I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

hey @autobotguy I know it's an old post. But I'm really struggling to find a replacement LED to replace the DRL on the headlight, will you be able to send me the link for purchase? Not the bottom DRL LED the one that's on the headlights top left. I have 2013 Scion XB

Amazon Amazon

Sorry this is so late, totally forgot about this thread but the last reply reminded me by email.

My 2012 Army Rock got totaled by a drunk driver, I got all ____ed up, doing better now and got me a white 2013 xB.

My new to me 2013 came with the LEDs standard but they only turn on with the headlights so I'm going to hook up the same harness to them so they are on whenever the car is on.

Thank you for this- I've been trying to figure out how to do this on my '14...so this controller just needs to be wired into the OEM LED power wire?

So- this harness from Amazon will power the OEM LED's?

I'm really struggling the find the bulb specs of the small bulb on the headlight. Can someone HELP?

I have a 2013 xB, with HID 6000K just want to match it with anything white as opposed to the stock one. I went to check if there's any code on that bulb but no luck.
As well would like to have bottom LED to run DRL can someone show me link me on how and where to get a harness in Canada.

Thanks in advance.
