Default Rear Bumper Swap (From 2008 Rear to 2011+)

Recently, someone backed into my car while leaving a parking space across the street and destroyed my rear bumper. The light still works and there doesn't appear to be any frame damage, so I'm not too concerned about it. They don't want their insurance rates to go up, so they are paying for it out-of-pocket.

I need to have the bumper replaced and repainted, obviously, but I'm wondering if the 2011+ rear bumper can be fitted to the 2008. I understand that the taillights are different, but looking at another members 2012 led me to believe that they are similar enough to fit, perhaps with a small gap. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

I searched everywhere, and I couldn't find anything about this. It just looked to me like everyone chose to switch the tails over.

You'll have to run the 2011+ tails with the bumper. The 2011+ tails are a little shorter, like the Rumion ones.

Otherwise everything mounts up.

I know they're shorter, and the angle appears to be slightly different, but I can't tell how different they are. Basically, the tails sit flush with the bumper currently, and I don't think it would be a problem if there was a 1/4"-ish gap, but something bigger might look strange. Can you provide any input on that?

The 2008-2010 tails probably won't fit with the 2011+ bumper due to the heighth difference. 2008-2010 bumper with 2011+ tails, there's the gap.

Oh right, that makes more sense. I was thinking backwards. Cool, thanks for the help!

yea you can fit the 11+ tails on the 08-10 bumpers with a little gap. you can make the swap work the other way around but it would take some work to do so

I think I'll shoot for the 2011+ bumper and find some aftermarket 2011+ tails. I'm not too big on the stock ones.

In my searching, there aren't any aftermarket 2011+ tails. I think the OEM ones are legit. I really want to convert.

I came to the same conclusion. I guess I'll have to try them out to see how I feel about them. I just want them to be a little different, so maybe I'll customize them myself somehow.

I'll let you know how the swap goes!

For sure. If you don't dig it, I'll trade you my rear. I'll even drive to you.

I was looking on amazon and found some aftermarket led lights. I just put my car in the garage thing on my account and boom found em, so if you want them just type in you got a 2011 xB and go to lighting should be like the second option there.

Now that I look closer, you might want to contact the seller. I see it says its compatible for xB 2008-2011. Maybe there has a mistake somewhere?

FOUND SOME MORE: but again you should contact seller to verify.

I think those all are for 08-10. I'll just have to get creative with my taillights. Maybe HIDs or LEDs and some other modification.

An LED retrofit would be rad. Make your own PCBs and go crazy.
