Default RS6 Emblem Black Out

I'm thinking of blacking out my rear Scion badge and xB logo on my RS6. I just wanted to know if you guys thought it would look good and if you had any tips before I do it. I was going to maybe try to make the text red to match the paint, but I'll see about that part. Also, what's a good paint to use? I wanted that Duplicolor Metalcast Smoke, but its really hard to find. Does the normal black look good?

Or would it be better if I paint it my exterior color and ghost it instead of black?

I think the black on red would look awesome. I did both the front and rear scion badges but removed the xB badge about a month after i got the car. looks cleaner in my opinion but to each his own. Had the front done for a while but never did the back. I used Krylon Fusion for plastics in a satin finish. Use a scotchbrite pad and scuff the surface so the paint will stick better. I did about 8 very light coats until the whole surface had an even finish. You night not be able to salvage the adhesive off the back , so get a small roll of 3m outdoor mounting tape. its just as thin as stock but way stickier. I thought about trying to color match the lettering tot eh car but unless you paint it by hand i don't think it would be possible.
sorry for the bad cell phone pic.

True value or Ace hardware i think. it was like 4 bucks for a roll. oh andby the way, to remove it i just used a heat gun on a low setting and used it about 6 inches from the badge. after a few minutes i used a heavy fishing line and used a sawing motion behind the badge to loosen the adhesive. there are two pins on there but you can work around them..
heres one more pic

alright thanks. And to reapply it, did you use molding tape? And how do you get it off with the pins? Do you just pull it off?

Yeah its 3m outdoor adhesive tape. Its a thin gray tape that is super sticky. once you have the sides of the badge loose just kind of pull on the edges of the badge being careful not to bend them. i took all of the stock adhesive off once the badge was off the car. then i just made a few strips of the new tape that fit behind the badge and reapplied with a decent amount of pressure. im pretty sure its pressure sensitive tape but it hasnt budged , not even a little. and its weatherproof

they are more like posts, not pins. the just align the badge when you reinstall it. this is an easy mod and definitely a great first mod! go for it!

Alright thanks. And do you have any idea if the tC emblems are exactly the same? I kinda want to buy one from amazon, just in case I mess it up or something. Plus it would be easier to put the old one back on if I didn't like it, rather than taking the paint off.
It says its the rear emblem for a 2009 tC

A paint pen would work for filling in the letters. FYI.

Don't use customxbgauges.com I ordered some things from them and not only did it take FOREVER for them to arrive, they looked terrible. Looks like they made a crude mold of the original emblem and just pour in whatever plastic they use, so it winds up coming out with all kinds of bubbles and imperfections as well as with a nasty edge where they try to trim off the excess. Tried to give them the benefit of the doubt as they said they had just moved to a new facility and would send me a new set. Waited weeks for it to arrive and it never did so I complained once again and all they did was refund the money, didn't apologize or explain anything. STAY AWAY FROM THEM!!
