The rubber strip right above the driver side of the car is coming off. Is there a way to re-adhere it to the car? It's a rubber strip that extends from the top of the windshield to the rear window, and there's another one on the passenger side.

I thought something like that was happening with my xA so I went to Autozone and they recommended an all weather rubber sealant/glue. That may help you.

Clean the channel and then double sided taped cut in 2" strips does thE trick

^its the "rain channel" things on the roof of our cars. the two black strips that run from front to back on the roof.

Only if it is the initial warranty. My "platinum" extended warranty doesn't cover these.

I've lost 3 of these $90 PoS rubber trim pieces. Toyota ate the labor/part cost on the first one since it was within the initial warranty. Then they were going to stick me with a $300 bill to replace both of them around 68k miles, but I manage to negotiate paying half an hour of labor only.

This is a very common issue. I see more than a few other xB's missing 1 or both of these trim pieces.

So what happens if you dont replace the missing rubber trim?

nothing at all. the main purpose of that channel isnt for rain. if you look down inside youll notice the weld seam. its where the roof pannel is welding onto the unibody frame. its common for alot of cars. ive actually been debating filling those in with some welding and filler work when i go to two tone the car in the body shop as school.. the only disadvantage to that would be if i ever get in a wreck or suffer damage to the roof i would be SOL or take alot longer and more repair time to fix it.... those metal clips that hold that stip on are really sketch arent they?

however ive vinyl wrapped my strips in carbon fiber the extra thickness on the sides kind of helps it stay down inside. then again the clips are still in good condition as well. and ive pull out those strips countless times for cleaning.

At first only three inches or so was coming off. Driving on the freeway today caused the whole thing to rip off to the last three to four inches on the back. I barely saved it in time when I pulled over on the shoulder.
