Default Toyota Euro Style Tail Lights

I ran across these at TRD Sparks:

Toyota Euro Style Tail Lights-00016-79935l.jpg

Does anyone have these? If so, can you please post some pics?

I am trying to decide on new lights and I like these as well as the lights from Longo Toyota.

Or, if you have any others besides the Anzo's, please post up.

Thanks.

Those are the TYC tails. I like the look. However, I've read of a LOT of problems with those particular lights burning out within a year (search this forum for TYC and you'll see what I mean). It was so bad that Toyota pulled them off the market.

I'm not sure if anything changed in the design, but I'd definitaly call TRD Sparks and ask them if the design had been changed and the new ones are more reliable. If not, I'd spend my money elsewhere. After all, they only look good when they work.

I thought they looked like the TYC tail, but a little different. Different in what way, I do not know. I can not recall the original design.

These are a redesign of the originals and Jamie at TRD Sparks states they have not had any problems.

You are very correct in stating they only look good when they work.

If you get them, let me know how they work out - and post pics, both daytime and nighttime please.

Like I said, I like the look, but have avoided them due to the reliability issues. If they have indeed addressed that problem, I may give them a second look. The $233 price seems reasonable for LED tails (I think the Longo ones are $279).

I wonder what they changed. Probably the driver circuit. If so, I wonder if a replacement circuit is available for those who purchased the original version of these tail lights.

I've been running my second set of TYC's for a year with no problems.

However, I have grown a little tired of them. I like Longo's tails better.

So....

Does the picture I posted match what you have?

I was thinking the current version might be different than the first generation of TYC tail lights.

yeah those are the same tail lights that were being sold previously. I had the TYC tails before and they blew out within a year or so and i got my money back. I believe they had a stop sell on these for a while (probably to fix the problem) and now they are being resold again. Just make sure you talk to them and see if any of the circuit or wirings have been changed.

Longo Toyota lights seem to be the best ones that I have seen.

I'll be getting a set of these for my box soon.

Here's another option from FastScions.com. It comes in smoke and chrome just like the one I posted above from Longo Toyota:

For a while, I was contemplating getting these, but they just don't look right to me. Then after I saw the ones on Longo Toyota, I knew I had to get those.

If you want to be bold, maybe consider the official JDM ones from Japan?

Oh, and to hold me off until I get the tails I want, I simply trimmed my OEM taillights with chrome to create a different look. Then when I get some real taillights rather than these bumpy red ones, we'll be talking.

I like these, but I have read that the fit is off unless you get the Rumion bumper.

I simply laid out a thin chrome overlay.

And you're also right about the Japanese lights. Looking at a comparison picture between a xB and a Rumion reveal subtle differences in fitment, ergo, incompatibility.

for the rumion tails you have to get the rumion conversion bumper. . . unless you like fat gaps. lol

which ones most closely match the chrome and clear of headlights? i get the impression that most aren't diggin that look. probably due to the layout and shape of the stockers. maybe toyota will revamp them in 2011 or 12.

My TYC's had the drivers side brake cluster stop working.
If anybody wants them for FREE, let me know.
