Default Wings and aero

Hi:

OK, I realize that toasters and aerodynamics are words that might not go well together in the same sentence, but please hear me out.

I have a gen2 *without* a wing and noticed that a lot of dust/grime accumulates on the top of the rear bumper (tailgate?). My question is has anyone who's driven without a wing and with one noticed any difference in the K-wrap that collects back there? I've seen the effects of the wing on a Sienna (it makes a difference), but that one is mounted almost vertically.

Thanks for any insights!

The rear spoiler keeps alot of the water from hitting the rear windshield making the wiper pretty much obsolete but once you do stop driving the amount of crap that collects is the same.

The spoiler doesn't help a bit. The back of my gen 2 gets dirty as soon as it moves.

it's because there is a void created in the back because of the large squareish shape, that creates a low pressure zone. so as you drive, air is sucked into the low pressure area, and thusly crap is collected on the back bumper and windows. the wing helps a little, but still there is crud, not as much as w/o the wing but crud just the same.....

The XB1 spoiler has more of a curve that directs air from the top of the car down the rear to help keep it clean. The spoiler on the XB2 doesn't have that. It's more flat so it does pretty much nothing to help keep things clean.

I've been driving a Mini Cooper S with a good-sized rear wing/spoiler for some time now, and it almost seems like it has a powerful "crud magnet" on the rear. That wing flips up a bit, and it still does no good at all at keeping the dirt from accumulating.

That's because your wing is solid all the way across. The OEM style wing is open and curved to direct air down.
