Default Cold Air Intake, Which one?

2010 RS 7.0
Manual Trans
2,100 miles so far.

I am looking for a good quality intake, don't care so much on which gives more power i want a high quality cold air intake. I can turn a wrench with no problems. This is my first brand new car so i don't want to take the car apart to put an intake on. I hear the TRD cold air intake requires front bumper removal for the install. I am trying to avoid that much work. What suggestions do you guys have.

TRD CAI can be installed without removing the bumper.

I personally like making my entire system (in-take through exhaust ) less restrictive. I've actually improved my mpg average by approx. 3-4 mpg better than when it was completely stock.
As far as any power increases on a N/A setup will be minimal at best. You might see 5-ish whp gain... and that goes for pretty much any mainstream aftermarket performance intake.

I have both Injen CAI and ses exhaust. I personally like the performance, looks, and most importantly is the build quality.
You can get hydro-shield overs for most, if not all CAI filters.
One nice thing I can say about the TRD CAI, is that it has a hydro-shield in-line that if I remember correctly goes right where the primary tube and secondary tube join.

If you care about brand names then go that way. otherwise they all do the same thing just as well as the other. Tenzo CAI is the cheapest. I've had it for 2 years. Works fine. no hassels. just as easy to install as the others. so unless you really really care about brands or are going for a particular look go here
nlmotoring.com and get the tenzo there for about 124. shipped.

I installed a TRD Cold-Air Intake on my xB and I didn't need to remove the bumper. The installation was super easy and the gains are awesome.

Granted, a bolt-on doesn't render much power, but I'm also rocking a Strup Header.

So basically that hesitation when I stomp on the gas? Yeah, it's gone now. I actually can be thrown back into my seat when I accelerate.

Since i have a release series, it comes with ground effects so i can not use the bumper inlet piece. Would this hurt the flow a whole lot on the trd intake?

I did search it found the CAI thread read all of it, but no one said anything about the RS 7.0 series, seems like the TRD would be a waste since it is designed to use an inlet vent they i have covered with the DAMDESIGN ground effects. Other then that i keep hearing that the INJEN is the best quality one, looks good, nice vibration stoppers, the pics show bumper off install. The K&N is just a ram with box so less chance of hydro lock. Wanted some opinions on the 2010 RS version of what to do.

I've got the Fujita CAI on mine and I love it. When it comes to intakes, they are all very similiar in build and design, but you really are paying for the name.

I say go with what you can afford and what brand you want to be loyal to. I used to have AEM products on my previous cars, but went with a Fujita intake for my 08 Altima V6 and was impressed, so I decided to get the Fujita for the xB and it's awesome.

Only issue I had with Fujita is that the intake I recieved had the wrong lower pipe for my xB. After 1 phone call to Fujita, my wrong lower pipe was being shipped back and I had the new correct lower pipe within a day and a half, from Cali! Awesome customer service!

Also, many of the CAI installs require the removal of the front bumper, but if you remove the battery and battery tray out of the way, you have access to everywhere you need to get to during the install. I did not take my bumper off...

Na i saw the tenzo setup, i like how the injen goes above the battery instead of around the battery, i am gonna keep researching and wait for storm season to end hear, prolly January i will get an CAI.

whats with people and cai. why not get a short ram. k&n short ram intake. i think theyre going for $310 and change on ptuning with free shipping.

Tenzo. Listen to Frozone. Sounds great, and you don't need to remove the bumper. For the time being, you do have to move the battery, but once finished, i bolted it right back to the OEM spot.

The Injen was a very easy install and didn't have to remove the bumper, or the battery. I just pulled back the fender liner to put the filter on. I like the fact that I can convert it in the rainy seasons. The sound is awesome, I also have it paired with the Tanabe Medalion Touring exhaust. Here are some pictures both short and cold air.
