Smile Converting my Trans

how hard would it be to convert from automatic to manual... because i want that decendant turbo kit, becasue with an automatic you can run only 5PSI and i wanna run 12 to get 355WHP @ 12psi on 100% STOCK MOTOR!

New trans, ECU, pedals, gear shift and linkage assembly, possibly half shafts, and other parts that I can't think of right now. Unless you have a lot invested in mods on the vehicle that aren't readily removed you would be better off selling the auto and buying a manual if you must have the turbo. It'll be cheaper and less of a hassle.

i considered this. but I think what I'm doing to do is just go with very minor perfomance mods, but do exterior, interior and electronic mods, while I'm paying off for my car. Then maybe when its paid off, depending on my financial situation, I'm going to look into the conversion and turbo

FWIW, the general concensus seems to be that our U241E can handle no more than 250 ft/lbs Tq. Of course you'll still need a good atf cooler and I'd recommend changing out the WS for M1, Redline D4, Amsoil, etc. Another option is to get a built AT from IPT or Level Ten for $4000.

IMHO you'd be better off settling for < 250whp/tq without all the hassle and expense of a MT swap or built AT. It is still a lot of fun and unless you're really into spinning tires and replacing broken parts, a lot more practical than 350whp in a FWD econobox.

It depends on the setup, weather and the dyno but roughly between 5-8psi. I made 215whp, 220ft/lbs on a Dynapack at 5-6 psi with a Precision T3/T04E .63/.60 A/R stage 3/50 trim, cast iron manifold and 2.5" exhaust on a hot day. At 7psi it felt like my AT was near it's limits as were my 440cc inj's so I'm running a 5.8 psi spring because I want my engine and drivetrain to last a very long time.

I'm going to contact fastscions.com about their new setup. I personally think it looks impressive, so I'll see what's possible with my automatic transmission.

That's a nice kit but so is Descendant's. Just be sure to add a good atf cooler, don't beat the hell out of your trans and you'll probably be very satisfied. I am.
