Exhaust issues
So for the past two/3 months while i been at school my car rattles in the exhaust right after the spipe. (Aftermarket 2.25 exhaust)
took it to a shop today. Tested it out turns out hte baffle inside that section is broke. It also blocks the exhaust from time to time. killing the power for visual its the first piece here http://www.ebay.com/itm/08-09-10-SCI...ht_2598wt_1215 Anyone know where i can get one of those? or what its name is? EDIT- the ebay link i posted is basically the exact same as what i currently have. direct copy. |
not even a slight clue?

it goes Piece that broke----long skinny pipe----Muffler part I really hate to believe that component is faulty, unfortunately, it isn't cheap :(! The part number I get is 17420-28830, which comes in at $620.33 at TRD sparks. ToyotaPartsZone shows $646.19. |
YEA the scuba. pretty much waht we found is if i just accelerate lighlty the rattle goes away. i can basically hear ____ in their moving. they said it was the baffling. can you buy single scubas?

OH OH OH i have an aftermarket catback already haha. the only thing stock on my exhaust is my s pipe.
basically the ebay link i posted above? i have that. i had a thread on it somewhere. i really forgot to mention that
Guess I misinterpreted, was under the impression you were saying you still had the factory "scuba". If not, then you'll have to narrow the problem down to the resonator Vs cat, though when the word 'baffle"s comes up, I'm thinking resonator.
hmm the search begins. im hoping that the seller i posted would be willing to sell me just the resonater or w/e its called. rather than buying that whole system again
you could ash scionfred. i think he is selling that part but not sure if its the same bolt pattern as it is from the cxracing header back system. pluse its 3" i think not 2.25. it would probly be cheaper to buy a rew univeursal resanator and have a shop cut the flanges of the rattling one and weld it onto the new one. just a thought
^^ universal res?
yea pretty much. maybe not that one but something just like it. now you can change the size to reduce sound and any drone you may once had
so i would buy that and take it to a shop n say make it fit?
you could do that. or the shop you go to might have them.
damn well it looks like it would be about 70 after shipping. add another 20-30 i assume for a shop to make it fit. and i assume another 20 to install looking at 120. so i decided i'll just buy the whole piece over again for 124. like the WHOLE setup. And what i'll do is do another video review of this maker and see how it rolls. but good info though, I didn't know all the different terms till now.
on that note if anyone needs the last two ends to an exhaust let me know!
It might make sense to see if the seller can indeed sell you just the part that failed. It may not be possible (or it may cost too much), but it doesn't hurt to ask. On the other hand, the idea of asking a reputable local shop what it would cost to replace it with something similar in performance is good. If there's a quality issue with the original, replacing the whole thing might not accomplish much in the long term :(! I realize these decisions are tough (money's like that :(), but it could be a worthwhile alternative.
PS. Sorry I messed up with my earlier response, I totally failed to pick up on your link and should have understood you're not running the OE "scuba" :icon_redface:! |
