Default Exhaust issues

So for the past two/3 months while i been at school my car rattles in the exhaust right after the spipe. (Aftermarket 2.25 exhaust)

took it to a shop today. Tested it out turns out hte baffle inside that section is broke. It also blocks the exhaust from time to time. killing the power

for visual its the first piece here

http://www.ebay.com/itm/08-09-10-SCI...ht_2598wt_1215

Anyone know where i can get one of those? or what its name is?

EDIT- the ebay link i posted is basically the exact same as what i currently have. direct copy.

Don't know if this helps, but the OE pipe sequence is exhaust manifold (includes pre-cat), 'S'-pipe, "scuba" (main resonator and cat), intermediate pipe, axle-back resonator. Sounds like you're saying something in the "scuba" broke, but I'd have thought that unlikely. Still, if the bugger is rattling, it's hard to argue !

I really hate to believe that component is faulty, unfortunately, it isn't cheap ! The part number I get is 17420-28830, which comes in at $620.33 at TRD sparks. ToyotaPartsZone shows $646.19.

Yes, but as I quoted above, the cost is such that it might make sense to look into a "scuba" replacement. That would be a combination of high flow cat plus high flow resonator. It'll take a little research, but should cost less then staying OE.

Guess I misinterpreted, was under the impression you were saying you still had the factory "scuba". If not, then you'll have to narrow the problem down to the resonator Vs cat, though when the word 'baffle"s comes up, I'm thinking resonator.

you could ash scionfred. i think he is selling that part but not sure if its the same bolt pattern as it is from the cxracing header back system. pluse its 3" i think not 2.25. it would probly be cheaper to buy a rew univeursal resanator and have a shop cut the flanges of the rattling one and weld it onto the new one. just a thought

damn well it looks like it would be about 70 after shipping. add another 20-30 i assume for a shop to make it fit. and i assume another 20 to install looking at 120. so i decided i'll just buy the whole piece over again for 124. like the WHOLE setup. And what i'll do is do another video review of this maker and see how it rolls. but good info though, I didn't know all the different terms till now.

It might make sense to see if the seller can indeed sell you just the part that failed. It may not be possible (or it may cost too much), but it doesn't hurt to ask. On the other hand, the idea of asking a reputable local shop what it would cost to replace it with something similar in performance is good. If there's a quality issue with the original, replacing the whole thing might not accomplish much in the long term ! I realize these decisions are tough (money's like that ), but it could be a worthwhile alternative.

PS. Sorry I messed up with my earlier response, I totally failed to pick up on your link and should have understood you're not running the OE "scuba" !
