Gas gauge problem after alarm/remote start
Hey all. Was hoping there are some smart people out there that might be able to point me in the right direction.
Last week I had an alarm/remote start installed on my 2011 XB. A bypass module was not used.
After the the install was done the gas gauge stopped working. It reads empty and the light is on.
Could this be a coincidence or is there something that could be wired wrong with an alarm/remote start that would cause this problem.
Also, I am taking the car back this Wednesday for him to look at but I wanted to see if anyone had in insight first.

Tks I'll check to see. When I first purchase my xb a year ago and I fill up the tank, the digital speedo would read like 300 miles to go, about 6 months ago it starts to read 245 miles to go. And I noticed this after a service at Firestone. Maybe coincidence.
naresh: are you getting the same MPG cause i feel up every week and usually always get 272 to empty and lately i have been driving a bit more conservative and this morning i put $40 and got 11 gallons and it shows 300 to empty.
O6,I've been driving about the same, I can't think of anything. I had HID installed a few weeks before this start happening. I was thinking of buying a can of a few gallon of gas and drive it to see how many miles it would go after the gauge says 0 miles to go.
Does your state use a different gas formula during the summer months? If so this can cause your mileage to drop with the change in formulation. Happens to me every year when we switch formulation here in California.
Greg. I used to fill up at one gas station and I moved a few months ago and it's about the same time it started. This may have something to do with it. I used to fill up at a Tom Tom, now I fill up at a chevron. I'll switch gas station and see what happens. Thanks for the tip.
