Has anyone done this yet on the 2nd Gen? I am really thinking about doing it. Just wonder for the people that HAVE done it what your thoughts are.

Did the search for GGp motor mounts in 2nd gen xB and came up with two posts. Mine and the original.

I think you are thinking about the engine damper about people taking them off cause they did not like them in the 2nd gen.

I did not complain to Geoff at Nurspec so thats why he hasnt received any complaints. I am not really unhappy with the product its just not for me. I was expecting some vibrations but not this many. I need a smoother car for daily driving and would rather put money towards something else.

I installed this motor mount on my turbocharged AT XB2 and the vibration level is totally unacceptable for daily driving. I think it might be tolerable in a MT car but I wouldn't recommend it for a AT car. The vibration level is acceptable at idle and while driving but not with a AT in drive with brakes applied. It shakes so bad that drivers next to me at traffic lights look to see where all the noise is coming from.

It does a great job of reducing wheel hop. If you have a boosted 5 speed, it's a nice addition. If you aren't boosted or have a AT, don't do it.

I contacted Nurspec and they informed me that the durometer rating for the poly bushing is 88. I'm looking into replacing it with a neoprene bushing with a hardness of 75. Either that or sell it and fill the oem mount with 3M window-weld.

Da nada, amigo. I didn't mention this but Nurspec told me the original MM used 92A poly but was too harsh so they switched to the softer 88A poly. IMO it needs to be even softer to be liveable with a AT. I found 82A poly and 75A neoprene at McMaster Carr. This might be my next project or just another on the list.

 

Hmmm. I wonder if I had the 92A. I think an 82 would be great. Fred, let me know if you figure something out.

Did I buy that one from you renegade? lol Im so used to mine already that I dont even notice the vibrations anymore lol.

 

Nurspec told me that they only made a few prototype XB MMs with the 92A poly and all the units sold had the softer 88A. I'm not sure if 82A will work for me or if the solid design of the MM will continue to add too much vibration. The stock MM cradles the weight between two rubber tendons in tension and has stoppers that limit movement up and down.

A friend has a great idea for a low-vibration damper but it requires fabrication and welding that is beyond my current capabilities. We'll see...

 

Update: I didn't expect poly to "loosen" up but something seems to have settled down since installing the MM. I had planned to put the stock MM back in today but am going to live with the GGP a little longer. I still think that softer poly might be better for AT cars but it's probably not bad at all with a MT.

I'm just waiting for Nurspec to email me the MM diagram they promised so I can order some softer poly for it. I don't want to trust measurements taken while on the car and get the wrong diameter.

how much are these?

 

$135 + 1 hour to install + 1 hour to remove + the time it takes to sell it, package and ship it - whatever you can get for it used

Seriously though, if you can live with the CXR exhaust without the silencer, you may be able to live with this MM. IMHO the poly is simply much stiffer than it should be. I'd sell you mine but I plan on using it after I replace the bushing with softer poly.

 

this is great on a manual car i only get vibrations with ac on high or when my fans kick in does wonders for wheel hop its quieter then a etd thats for sure i like it and wouldnt go back the car will be a little less forgiving with a big clutch i have also modded my back one with some rubber through it.
i mean look at the traction and no wheel hop at 400hp
second gear and the camary was flooring it
