Default I have a question about the Strup Header !

I have a few questions about the Strup header / exhaust manifold.

1) Hows the quality of the material of the header?
2) Hows the low end power gain hp/tq?
3) Will I pass smog with it?
4) Hows the fitment?
5) Will it connect to the OEM exhaust parts without modi?

thanks for looking and help =)

hmmm. I dont know that header specifically...but I can tell you one thing...if you put ANY performance racing header on your car you cease to be street legal. And no you wont pass emissions because you will have eliminated the primary CAT. Most performance headers however usually do have a port for the o2 sensor on the header.

have strup header on my 08 . they do have o2 senor port. used factory manifold and S pipe gaskets over again per factory recommendation. no problem. you will not pass smog. primary cat does most of the work which is located in the stock header. secondary cat in "scuba" tank after S pipe. also heat is a consideration. our ugly heat shield keeps hot air from entering intake (bad). mine coated with high temp. coating

So .. is that means its bad .. it will cost a "CHECK ENGINE" light .... and heat up the engine bay badly ?

With an aftermarket header, you will probably not pass smog. It's more than likely not street legal for your state if you have to ask.

As for Strup as a company. Their products are top notch. Good quality, fits well to OEM equipment. But their products do tend to be on the louder end of the spectrum. It will not heat up your engine bay to any hotter than it already gets.

You can still pass emissions because you'll still have one cat in place. As long as you don't throw a check engine light and the secondary cat is very hot (they work better at full temperature), you should pass.

You will fail the VISUAL part of the inspection though but I doubt many places will be able to tell unless you live in Cali.

Very small chance of that happening. I have never heard of a header install doing that.

hate to disagree with Big Bird but when you eliminate the factory heat shield your under hood temp will rise. Look at the factory piece covered with thin sheet metal sandwich to keep heat awat from intake. That is the only real concern, every else under the hood will be fine. Solution CAI. CEL light came on after header install but I was prepared. Bought a CEL eliminator from Strup w/headers Installed it in the "S" pipe. Stock O2 sensor went into header port, Rebooted ECU by pulling fuse and CEL was gone forever

^^I thought a Strup header was coated to reduce heat. Well I guess I was wrong. My megan header does not seem to create more heat, I dont feel a difference there.

The strup headers are great. I have sold many of them and never had a single issue at all with them. They are great quality peices. You do need to get a CEL peice with the header so you do not get a "Check Engine Light". All in all you will not be disappointed with the product.

I am running the strup header and have no complanits. The ceramic coating holds up, keeps the heat down and imo looks much beter than the shiny version. You will need the cel eliminator xtra $50.

As for emissions it will depend on the state you are in. Some states only check the cars computer for error codes and the gas cap for leaks. They look a little closer in california and colorado.

If you are interested in a used strup ceramic header let me know. My car will be getting a turbo charger in the very near future.

Big Bird. yes strup headers come with a ceramic coating as an option. Stock is polished stainless. Great quality and fit with either. You get what you pay for.

Strup for the win if you are getting a header! They are top notch with quality.
