I already know where the jack points are along each rail of the car, but the MANUAL shows 2 more jacking spots - one somewhere between the rear wheels, and one between the front. It lest you get up quicker by using these.

But when I go and look for these jack points, there does not appear anything which looks like the service manual at all. In the rear, if you go much further than the wheel brace (?), then you hit the gas tank.
So where is this magical "cone shaped" jacking point which the manual speaks of, and it THAT supposed to be the rear jacket point.

Same deal with he front; I see the subframe and would assume you could jack under the subframe so long as your jacking point is not way way from where the subframe meets the body.

I've heard of this as well, but I don't know where they are. I do remember the post by the guy who jacked up his xB by the radiator support and basically totalled it by doing so (completely bent up the front of the car).

 

If you look at the second picture on this page, Hotchkis Sway Bars: Scion xB 2008 - 2014 (xB2) you'll see the rear jack point just to the rear of the axle.

For the front I've always found the sub-frame to work well.

 

As noted above for the rear jack point

The front longitudinal member has a bulb locator on it noting the jack point. Keep the jack centered over the bulb

 

First chance I got to check out & use the front & rear jack points. W/ the jack I have, that rear one is way high. It gets the rears off the ground, but not much more.

 

Yes, that rear center jacking pint is pretty high.

 

sorry this is an old thread but I just picked up a xB 2012 last week and would like to soon do an oil change, among other things; so is this bulb for the hydraulic jack as shown in my picture where the arrow is pointing?

also for jack stands, is it ok to use this big metal bar? it's where the jack point is, but towards the inside of the car, I drawn a rectangle where I plan to use my jack stand.

yes, that cone on subframe is super strong, as is subframe, much, much thicker than body of car.

Jacks can go under that square frame-reinforcement you outlined. It's double-walled box-section beam that runs length of body.

BTW, don't use pinch-welds on outside edges with jack or jackstands. They'll crumple under weight of car. Should only be used with factory emergency scissor-jack that reaches around pinch-welds and actually push on rocker panel itself. Or use jack-pads with channel to clear pinch welds.
