Default LSD install price?!?

So...I have a trd lsd and install kit. The trans is OUT of the car.

I have called multiple places, and the results have varied dramatically.

A local shop quoted me $300, with no warranty(they said since it was a 'performance' car, they would not warranty the work at all.

Powers transmissions (local chain) quoted $500 for install, and will warranty.

A local performance shop (very reputable) claimed it was a 10 hr job, and quoted $1000.00.

What have you guys paid, the varying prices seem ridiculous, as 1/2 the work is already done for them(trans is out of the car)!

Doesn't seem like it would be that tough...

I hung out at my buddy's shop while they converted an EVO8's trans to "dogbox". Didn't seem like it was all that much work, just tedious and labor intensive. There was a bit of measuring.

I'm very glad I have my LSD install behind me. It took 3+ weeks and cost me ~$2,400 (incl. the LSD and ancillary parts from TRDSparks.com).

I cant wait, I'm just glad to have a 5 speed again.

I live about 5 miles from a 15 mile stretch of switchbacks, so I will more than likely be doing a good bit of "Tweaking" on the ksports :D (After the 500 mile break in of the clutch AND tires of course....)
