Default Playing with ideas... Muffler to Glasspack

Well I'm looking for a bit more aggressive exhaust note for cheap, and was wonder what you guys think about replacing the stock muffler with a glasspack. The Borla straight pipe deal doesn't sound as deep and mellow as I wanted. I'm wondering if a glasspack would tone it down a bit without killing it. Again, just playing with ideas, don't set me afire if this is retarded. :o

i'm on my third exhaust... thats including the stock one. all sound exactly the same. the reason is the scuba tank under the car. thats right... the dreaded 3-way cat/resonator. not sure what your smog rules are there, but most of the US requires you to keep your stock emission equipment for the first 50,000 miles. then after that, you can change it, but it has to still meet or excede the stock emission output. you can remove the cat/resonator and install a hi flow one, increasing the sound and flow of your exhaust. then a glasspack will sound better. you could always try running one now. you will notice a difference, but not as much as most would think. hope this helps.

Hmm, thanks. I'm not looking for something much more aggressive, so I may try the glasspack. In Hawaii, we have no emissions regs, so thats pretty sweet. If it doesn't sound good enough, then more cutting may be in order. :D

Heh, thanks. I'm currently working on sounds in my ride, but the exhaust will get done, eventually.

Hmm, ok, reading in the tC forums, the stock axleback is great at reducing rasp. So what if I leave the axleback in place and replace the resonator with a glasspack or some other high-flowing muffler? Just want to get some opinions before I go cutting things up.

Hmm, a bit of searching found me some videos with various states of resonator removal. (http://youtube.com/results?search_qu...rch_type=&aq=f)
Not sure what coryjames' youtube account is, but the videos from fastbug2276 sound a bit too raspy for my tastes. Thats with the TRD exhaust and a highflow cat (in place of the reso.). By my reasoning, I think the stock axleback with a high-flow muffler in place of the resonator might give me the sound I'm looking for. Time to start looking at mufflers.
