i have put most of the goodies on the trans and redline mt 90 that made it shift like butter! a must if you have a 5 speed.

 

I have a 2010 box and for me it took some time getting used to the clutch on this car. My previous vehicle was a 96 s10 5spd with what was i'm pretty sure a hydraulic clutch. I got 190,xxx miles out of the factory clutch no problem. When I switched to the xb it took me awhile to find the shift point. I ended up finding it one way or another on the cars first road trip (pittsburgh is all damn hills i swear lol). What i found that helped is to depress the clutch all the way to the floor every time. Once I started pressing in all the way it has been as smooth as silk with no problems. Also, I've got over 8000 miles and it seems to be getting smoother as time goes on. I never had a problem getting it into any gear to begin with, but with going to the floor consistently I've noticed a big difference.

 

Nope. No issues here. 18K on the odo and I drive it daily.

 

My 2nd gear grinds when my clutch is all the way in. And same with 5th gear....

 

I agree, try to feel it out and you're sorely challenged. Take it to the floor and things smooth out ! The clutch is OK, it just doesn't have the feel I'm used to and so it takes a different approach.

If you grind gears with your clutch pedal genuinely fully depressed, then most likely your clutch isn't fully disengaged -- right? This is an adjustment your dealer needs to take care of. On the other hand, if you're still in the process of pushing down the pedal when you shift the gear, it's your fault -- right? Another possibility is simply that you're shoving that gear shift the moment the clutch is floored. It does take a moment for the tranny to relax, and so perhaps you just need to lay back a little! This isn't a sports car people, but it does a pretty good job as far as I can tell .
