NO! Silicone is one substance that doesn't 'burn off' during the MAS's cleaning process. It melts to the hot-wire and ruins your MAS. Just use the o-ring on the MAS, nothing else.

Ok ok lol thank you I had just heard of some people doing it and it didn't sound like a very good Idea.. I got to looking really close and the o-ring on the maf does have a tear on it... I guess autozone has o-rings??

It's possible that the "sensor safe" RTV might be okay but I'd rather find a new o-ring instead. You should be able to find a replacement o-ring at most auto parts stores. You'll probably have to buy an assortment to get the right size at stores like Autozone. You might do better with NAPA, Fisher, etc.

I have no first hand experience with the Tenzo CAI but it shoudn't cause a CEL unless the designer had his head up his ... Hopefully the torn o-ring was the CEL culprit. I don't know if you need to or not but as long as you have the MAS out you may as well clean it with MAS cleaner. It can't hurt and a can is only $5 and lasts a long time.

So I've had the intake for a while now and the cel still continues to turn on and off :/ it's not affecting gas milage or performance but it's just annoying any advice?
