if they produced the kit for the scion tc and the xb is the exact same engine correct? the only issue would be proper fitment? i don't see why they wouldn't release the supercharger unless R&D would be more expense than the expected profit

i guess it didn't sell well enough for the tc. So there scared to release it for the xb for the same reason. But what I don't understand is why they don't just make the mounting plates to fit the xb and still use there over stock tc sc.

its not exactly the same motor..the compression ratio is slightly lower than the tc making the tc's high end a bit more powerful. i did smoke a tc yesterday though, the guy couldnt shift very well so i had an advantage but i was still almost a whole car in front of em and thats just with my intake lol. it felt good.

Default Dumb question 1: Can you disengage the TRD SC?

A simple (but probably dumb) question: Once installed, can you disengage TRD's supercharger (or any after-market SC)? (Remember the 1971 movie classic Vanishing Point? I'm pretty sure Barry Newman had a toggle switch.)

I own the movie, I'm gonna have to watch it again to check.

But remember, that was just a movie... superchargers and blowers are driven from the crankshaft, I'm not sure how you could turn them off with a switch.

well the air conditioner is run off the crankshaft, but it turns on and off at the push of a button. lol

but you could if you have a boost controller, you would be able to set it to completely release all the boost so it would turn the supercharger, but then you would have to carry two fuel maps for with and without supercharger, which you can't with the trd, you'd have to have a stock tune, and then a piggyback with the tuned fuel map.

take a look at the tc's engine bay layout, and the xb2's layout, and then the corolla/matrix xrs. they are the same engines, but the air intake houses, battery position, fuse box relay location, strut towers, and a few other misc items are not in the same places, making fitting the supercharger in there more difficult than simply doing complete carry-over from the tc's supercharger kit. after looking at them all at the auto show, it looks like it would be a pretty tight fit.

Mad Max had a clutch on the belt driving his supercharger. On his shifter was a large red **** that he pulled up to engage the SC.
From the movie Mad Max and the sequal Road Warrior.

From the "Vanishing Point" entry in Wikipedia:

"Despite the speculation of the police at one point in the film, the car was not supercharged or turbocharged, but naturally aspirated with the single quad (4 barrel) 440/375 horse engine."

So I'm not sure what movie I remember the toggle switch from...possibly none.
