Default 09 XB Stereo Reception Question

So I finally got around to putting in my Pioneer head unit and Bazooka tube. Pioneer unit is just a DEH-4100 UB. Nothing special. I had it from my Grand Cherokee. Anyway, I am no stranger to putting in equipment. I have read where everybody was having issues with AM and FM reception. I too have the problem. So after reading, i went out and pulled out head unit. Tapped power antenna wire from head unit wiring into red power wire and reception came back to where it should be. My question is, is that the correct wire to tap into? Should it be off the yellow constant power?

What exactly did you do? I'm having the exact same problem with a Pioneer HU.

Yes the red wire is correct it's the 12v ignition wire. The yellow one is constant and your sub/ amp won't turn off. If you pull power from your antenna then you lose reception...

What do you connect the red wire to? I don't see any free wires... Can you please explain how to fix my reception issue?

You should be connecting the remote wire on your sub/amp to the red wire on your stereo wiring. Just tap in to it.

The remote turn on wire I did not use to fix the reception problem. I have that used to turn on my amp.

My Pioneer unit has a wire for power antenna. Its a blue wire. Originally i didnt wire it because I dont have a power antenna. But after researching here, apparently you have to use it because our cars have an antenna amplifier that needs to be powered. My harness that I got with my install kit must not have been setup for that.

So I took the blue power antenna wire from the back of the Pioneer head unit, and tapped it into the red ACC power wire. All my reception came back and it works as its supposed to.

For me FM reception is fine. I lost most AM. Would this be the same fix?

@Monty - Yes. I had some FM reception, but it wasnt where it should have been. And I had no AM reception. Once I did this, all AM came back and my FM improved way beyond what it was.
