Default Can you install subs on stock HU?

Hey what's going on guys. I did use the search function but was not able to find anything.

With the stock HU are you able to install subs and an amp? If so is there a DIY on these forums someone could link me to?

Thanks in advance.

Yes you can. You will need a line output converter, amp power wire of proper gauge, a remote turn on lead and RCA signal cable. Then the amplifier and subwoofer that you want to use. And some time to install it. If you don't know what you are doing take it to someone who does and pay them to do it right the first time and be done with it. Shouldn't cost more than $100 for labor, parts prices vary too much for me to bother quoting anything. Good luck.

I use the bass tube harness from toyota p/n PTS20-52040-WH sells for $76.00,
then I run a alpine mrp-450 amp with high level inputs and a single boston 10 inch
G2 subwoofer in a custom ported box with no problems, hits 134 db.
The harness is plug and play to the head unit, then you remove the plug to the bass tube, you will have left & right speaker output,12v, remote turn on & ground.
I run 4guage power & ground .Hope this helps.

No line ouput is needed on the xB2 because the factory Pioneer HU has three sets of preouts. One is for fronts, one is for a rear output and the final is a sub output FTW. This is one of very few that have factory preouts for amps (the other is the factory Kenwood HU in the Tiburons) SCION ROCKS

Are you sure the standard head unit have sub output? or is that the premium head unit? I haven't taken out my standard unit out yet to see.

I'm currently building a fiberglass enclosure right now. My plan was too hook up to the standard stock unit with a line out converter and a amplifier volume controller so I can control the bass amp.

Default question

I know the upgraded pioneer head unit has pre outs but does the navigation system provide pre outs at all? I was thinking about ordering the Bazooka VSE-SCI-145L-07 Toyota Scion xB Powered Subwoofer System to put into my BOX. The websites I researched said it was a direct plug and play but I was wondering if that worked with the factory navigation unit.

^^I would imagine that it would, but you may still need to run power for it.... never hooked one up so wouldnt know for sure maybe somebody else has further details on that setup.
The only draw back when using a LOC is you loose all sub control and it works off the "bass" setting from the deck... I always vote new HU but if money is tight and your worried about theft LOC work GREAT!!

The navigation doesn't have rca pre-outs only the premium do. The bazooka enclosure is "mostly" plug and play. All the power cables connect with the headunit to the sub... but you will need remove the rear panel to drill holes to install brackets to hold the enclosure!

Unless you find a way to rig a volume ****.. the only way to control the volume on the bazooka enclosure is to adjust the **** on the enclosure itself.
That's one of reason I decided not to get the bazooka.

Default radio wiring

http://www.modifiedlife.com/2008-sci...iring-diagram/
heres a wire diagram of the radio wiring, i had a system in my car and i hooked up my remote wire to the gray wire i believe. cuz that wire will only get power when you turn the radio on, hence powering the amp when necessary.

^^thats a good find!! very helpful if they are acurrate, which from the top of my head it does seem correct.
So the navigation Scion unit doesnt have preouts?? I have never personally seen behind one, but it seems really weird to know they did preouts on the premium and not the navigation.. is the navigation an amplified Pioneer unit or anything??
