Default Carbon Fiber Dash Kit Pics

I saw the dash kit on ebay and went ahead and ordered it. Figured I'd see how it looked and if I liked it, I'd use it, if not, I'd sell it. So it came yesterday, and I'm pretty impressed with how it looks.

It's advertised as "real" carbon fiber. I doubt it is, but it's the most real looking "imitation" CF I've seen, that is if it isn't actually real. Certainly not like the black base masked and painted with the gunmetal paint type carbon fiber look stuff.

The pieces all fit really well. Even though there are seperate pieces they fit really well together. Some of the edges look really noticable in the pics, but in person it looks great. I didn't use all the pieces, like on the door pull handles and around the radio, etc. One thing about dash kits is they usually have so many pieces it looks overboard and tacky if you use them all. Also didn't use the rear door pieces cause I haul my dogs sometimes and I figure the clear on the pieces would end up all scratched and look like crap.

It's not for everyone, but I like it and that's what matters. Just thought I'd share in case anyone else was wondering what it was like. So I'll shut up now, on with the pics.

hmm.. that looks about as real as it gets, considering how the fiber reflection changes as the angle changes.

It was $160 shipped. Install was easy. Biggest thing is to test fit the pieces several times before you peel the backing off, to make sure you know how/where to line it up. Cause once that backing is off and the tape touches, it's instant mega stick.

I think I might try and break down one of the pieces I didn't use, to see the CF material used. Mostly because I have seen just about every type of "CF Look" vinyl and none of that comes close to this, not even the CF3 vinyl.

I just got mine in last week and can not decide if I want to do it or not. The CF does not match my seats right. The dash kit is a lighter CF and my seats are the darker CF. So I have not made up my mind if I want to put it in yet.

I got the black carbon fiber. The one they listed was the gun metal, but I sent them a message that I wanted the black. I thought the gunmetal would be too light.

thanks for posting this. I'm really on the fence as to which route I want to go with the dash. Carbon Dash Kit, Patterntek Wood Grain, or just leaving it stock.

I just bought my xB yesterday and coming from a luxury sedan I feel like the interior is lacking somewhat. I installed the Clazzio leather covers, which are amazing, but I feel like the car needs a little more.

Possibly woodgrain and an Avic-D3 for a little more luxury?

Your carbon looks great though!
