Default Clips and Claws

Hi gang. I just purchased the Scion Sirius satellite radio kit for the xB. I had thought long and hard about this after reading the install instructions provided by TRD Sparks. It looks like several interior panels fastened with clips and claws need to be removed. Looks like it's mostly a forceful pull-off affair in order to remove these panels. My question is how well do these plastic interior panels take to being pulled off their moorings without being marred, disfigured, or broken? Any hints, tips, or advice before jumping in? Thanks. Joe.

invest in some nylon pry tools. i stole a set from my uncle's shop and have never looked back. his set was all one type but $30 doesnt sound too bad for a set of assorted!

alternatively, you can lay a towel over the tip of a flat-head screwdriver and use that as a pry tool. i picked that up after my uncle "lost" his pry tools. the towel protects the tip from marring the plastic and screwdrivers are a lot stiffer and stronger than the nylon if your trying to pop out a stubborn dash panel

honestly, I have never found a car with easier trim panels to take on and off, you don't need any pry tools except for the door..... all the molding is super easy, just lift with your hand

for the doors, grab in the middle at teh bottom, and just pull sharply

Thanks for the tips, guys. How about reinstalling the pieces. Do they seem to go back in good as new without any problems? The reason I ask is my last car, a Subaru Legacy, had these sail panels that I removed once to route a wire. The mounting posts that were moulded to the panel started to rip off as I removed it, and it also started to turn white where the plastic was being stressed.

Reinstalling is just as easy, just line up the clips to the holes and you're golden, if you accidently mash one of the white panel clips autozone has em.

i just installed the Toyota/Scion Sirius kit from a different manufacturer and it was a 5 minute install. All panels remove by hand. The stereo has four 8mm bolts that need to be removed to access the satellite radio port in the rear. Try mounting the antenna inside your dash on top of one of the air ducts. I noticed the entire top of the dash is plastic so I mounted the antenna on top of the driver side air duct and reception is great.
