Lightbulb Considering Speaker Upgrade 2013 xB - Questions, Suggestions & Comments Please!

Hello All,

Recently I pulled the trigger and got myself a brand new 2013 Scion xB 10 Series. Love the her to death. Had it for almost a month now and I think it's time to start considering upgrades. The first major upgrade I want to do is replace the stock component speakers - both front and back, including the tweeters on the front doors.

I am willing to spend about $200-250 on new speakers. I'm looking for a much more bold and crisp sound. Does any one have good suggestions or references to speakers? Secondly, is the install difficult? I've watched a handful of videos and read a series of threads but it's tough to tell. I consider myself a bit handy but I don't want to run the risk of destroying a door panel. I am also unsure about whether or not I would need some kind of adapter for the speakers to fit? When I purchase the speakers I want to make sure I can do the whole upgrade in one sitting.

Shoot me your comments and suggestions! Anything is welcome. I appreciate your input.

Thanks,

Anderoo16

Check these components out bro. They're a tad over your budget but well worth it. Best speakers I've heard under $600. Of course that is dependent on if you like silk or metallic tweeters. These are silk.

I've always heard the weak point in most stock stereos is not enough power. Maybe an amp should be added first?

Amp first, the stock stereo does not have enough power to properly run component speakers. You'll be amazed at the improvement on the stock speakers with an amp added to them. You can then replace them with other speakers after that but you need the correct foundation to make them sound right.

You want a decent amount of power, 25-50 watts is plenty for speakers, more for subs. Look for a well known brand name and you usually get good quality sound. Also don't skimp on your power and signal cables, they are the life blood of your sound.

look for a good quality amp, Nowadays, most stuff is made in China, and is CRAP. I personally like US Acoustics, which aren't made anymore, BUT, you can find good refurbished ones on ebay with a seller named audio clinic. He is in CA.

There are other good quality amps out there, but be prepared to drop some coin for them
