Does anyone know of a continuous 12V source near the dash area?

1) The ignition wire would work but what is the color of the wire?
2) A source wire close to the radio area would great.
3) The radio power is dependent on the ignition switch.

I need a constant 12V source to hook-up a hands-free device.

How much power does it draw?

 

The primary has a 4 amp fuse and the instructions says to find a point in the fuse box which is fused at 4 to 10 amps.

 

You could pull off of the constant 12v which is white + at your ignition switch harness, although honestly I would run power through a piggy-back fuse setup on a switched fuse in your fuse box (switched being ignition on only)

 

The kit has a separate wire (green) that connects to a switched fuse. I was going to splice into the radio power wire for this one.

The red wire connects to a constant source so I'll try to find the white wire at the ignition switch harness.

 

Is the red wire for a remote turn on? If it is, pulling out of the white wire which would be ign1 (+ when ign is on) that is what you want. The green wire is what you want to run to your fuse box, or under the dash fuse box with the same type of set up.

 

the radio has a constant & a switched wire behind it.. there should be a sticky that has ALL wire colors

So is the Lt Green the switched? If so then what color is the constant?

 

grey = switched, also accessory line. If ign switch is off, this line has no power. If it's on, then it has power. That's what switched is, if you're wondering.

light green, always has power...to maintain memory of settings in radio etc. hence the term constant.

 

OK Thanks! I double checked it against the wiring diagram at fsu-clan and it matches what you said:

Light Green = Constant
Grey = ACC

 

I know it's right. Finding the right wire is a little tricky on the back of the radio. If you need help I can pull mine out and tell you which connector it is. I think it was the blue one. If you pull stock radio out, and looking at it from the top down without disconnecting, its the connector on the left. It's two rows tall, and approx. 10 columns wide. Make sense?
