Default Do you need Speaker adapers for the doors?

Hi all. New to the XB and will be adding aftermarket speakers to the doors this weekend. After the stock speakers are taken out will the after market 6 1/2" speakers fit in the door or do I need a speaker adapter?

Thanks for the help!

Speaker adapter, yes. You will need them. Some manufacturers include them. I know a few people on the forum have used product from Polk and the adapters were included.

Oh jeez. I couldnt wait for an adapter (was dying without music!!)

I just made a very crude ring of wood with a jigsaw. It was pine wood but as long as theres a pilot hole it wont crack.

As for getting those stock ones out. After alot of drilling and pulling on the rivets they were set free. But wow it sucked, especially coming from a company that wants you to make modifications!!

Polks bring some cheap plastic ones, Crutchfield also sends cheap plastic ones.

do NOT use the crutchfield ones!!! I only got 2 of 3 holes to fit!!! I ended up making my own MDF rings, but I reccomend those ones off ebay.

The holes for the rear speakers are closer together than the front, they'll require some modifying ;) i used MDF speaker adapters from Elemental Designs for my Kappa Perfects and they work pretty well.. But only for very large 6.5" speakers, not 5.25"
