Default DVD/GPS safety override.

I searched the site forums for an over ride for the GPS unit in the 08s. Sorry if its doubled but I had no luck. Ive heard that the older toyotas you just had to ground the E-break wire but the new ones its not the case.

I have the stock gps in dash unit and I'm trying to find a way to be able to over ride the safety feature that doesnt allow me to do pretty much anything while driving.

Ok so I think I found it!!!!

http://www.wikihow.com/Override-Toyo...ation-Gray-out

That will over ride it but I have to enter it in every time I restart the car?

I Think the rewiring sounds like the prime idea.

Just to make sure, it over rides all of the safety/motion features? Because theres been one feature after another that I'm finding to be pretty much useless due to the safety crap on this unit. Not being able to change music artists on my ipod while moving is pretty annoying.

The touch screen override that alot of people see on the prius sites doesn't work. Atleast not that I could get to do anything on mine. You are pretty much stuck with modding the wiring for now.

I rewired it today and it seems to work great! I just have to find a better switch than the one I got at radio shack because it doesnt fit in the slot right.

I'm probably going to order one directly from toyoto because all of the buttons are the same exact size, The stabalizer safety button or whatever it is and the hazard button are all the same size as all the additional slots.

Instead of having mine near the shifter mines to the left of the wheel near the "stabalizer" switch. Im financing and have a warranty so I'm kind of trying to keep it discreet. The salesman told me if theres anyway whatsoever they could trace any troubles to a rewiring that my warranty is entirely void.

I can change the music on my ipod and play dvds while driving...I'm officially tickled pink at this point.

I was pretty ____ed off about spending the money for something that I couldnt really use.
