I actuall did three mods today but the humidity is so high my camera fogged up before I could get pics of everything.

I changed the display and speedometer LEDs to green to see how it would look. It'll be my determining factor for going green or blue.
I painted the trim piece around the gauges. Looks 10000000000 times better.
Last, but definitely not least, the mod that started it all, I soldered wires to the display switch so I could add a switch elsewhere. Right now I'm trying one out in the lower left switch area where the traction control switch is. I can reach it with no problems and it's not where I'll bump it accidentally.



I'll post more pics when the humidity goes down or I have time to leave my camera out to adjust to the temp.

what was the paint procedure on the plastic pieces

Wet sand with 400 grit, dry, and paint. There are others that go through a ton of steps and other adhesion promoters, etc. I've found that all that stuff isn't absolutely necessary particularly when spraying a flat color. Gloss paint needs more prep work because it shows flows more readily.

 

how do you change the lights on the ODO? I would love to change mines to blue

 

Take the cluster apart, desolder the original LEDs, then solder in new blue LEDs.

 

does the original switch for the display work as well??

 

Yes.

 

Now you need new gauge face that output the green light so you can match your green LED theme....
