Nah these are threaded (I hate the crappy set-screws too). You just give him the car model, I also told him 1/4" and mine had several screw in inserts to match (I guess there are 2 common thread sizes)

This guy makes quality stuff, I've used then on several of my cars in the past and he does quality work (although count on waiting a while).

Check him out www.flameball.com

(ps. mine is the Abstract / amber flash / tree root design and the picture on the site does it more justice than my shot lol)

I know what you mean! I replaced my OE Eclipse shift **** with an under $10 leather covered one from PepBoys and it had three small set screws tightening against an interior plastic sleeve that tightened against the lever. The set screws started stripping the cast aluminum threads at initial install, plus the plastic sleeve slipped on the tapered lever. I had to oversize drill and tap the three threads, toss the liner and install longer screws. End result is good with the appearance and feel perfect, but it's definitely not as secure as a screw on .

AJ - what size is that ball? Is that the 1-7/8 or 2-1/8" size? Can't decide between a pool-ball style or a flame ball, and the flame ***** only come in the larger 2-1/8" diameter.

Also, when you say you "also told him 1/4" - what is that referring to?

Also x2: I have read conflicting reports of our threads being 12x1.25 or 12x1.5 - which is it?
EDIT: found this - "Manual is 12 x 1.25, Auto is 8 x 1.25"

Thanks!

You want the manual ball, the automatic is for those ***** that have the release button in the middle(which is why it's bigger).

The thread size is 1/4"

Oh, no the manual ***** come in two different sizes, on some models; I found that the "abstract" (what you have) only comes in the larger 2-1/8 diameter. Does it feel significantly bigger to your hand than the OEM ****? I can't tell if it looks too big (for my tastes) or not.

Not sure of the size but it's quite comfy, not too big.
Anything smaller might be weird.
