did you happen to run your power cable over any signal cables or RCAs?

Is it a hiss in the background that goes away once music starts? Or is a hiss that gets louder when the car is running? Or just an annoying hiss all the time?

gains are fine. it's a constant hiss you hear when the volume is relatively low, like at conversational volume where you just want a little music in the background or when you're hearing talk radio or something that doesn't have a beat behind it.

Hmmmm...this is a tough one. Is it from all audio sources? When you adjust the gain does the hissing get louder? If you unplug the rca's from the amp is it still there? Where is the amp grounded and how long is it?

well, it's definately louder as i raise the volume, but it gets drowned out from the actual music. the ground is short. i'd say less than a foot and it's right into the metal of the car. the paint was ground off as well. haven't tried unplugging the rca's yet.
