Default IPOD QUESTION

I just got my IPOD cable, hooked it up to my IPOD and now I can switch from AM, FM etc.. to my IPOD using my steering wheel controls. But on my head unit it says "Direct Control" and to change a song etc.. I have to manually change it on the IPOD. Is this the way it works or am I missing something? I would have thought that I could at least switch between songs on the IPOD using the steering wheel controls. (??)

what ipod do you have? size, gen, type? read through your owner's manual to see which units are supported for direct control then you should find your answer

answering the question about the ipod would help us answer you
i was reminding about the manual that way you could possibly answer your own, but if you do not have it then that's where we can chime in and help, please give us the ipod information first, also, what year xb do you have, and which radio?

Mine was part of the vehicle when I bought it new. I hooked up my friends iPod and it showed up in AV2 which does not support iPod. So I will have to switch the inputs when I do my new system install.

Hey Slody, I know you're trying to help but it's a simple question. Are any of you guys able to change songs on your Ipod using only the steering wheel controls. Thanks.

You have to hold down the menu button or something while the radio is off (ignition on). It'll prompt you "Direct Control" then you can turn the **** to the other option. I'll see if I can find it.

When the stereo is off, press and hold Menu until the menu comes on the screen, then navigate over to the iPod tab and press the jog dial in to switch modes.
