Default Issue with Alpine Upgrade Unit

Hi all, first post here and have only had my 2011 xB a week now. Lovin' the box.So I have a question about the Alpine unit that came in it. When I have a 1GB flash drive hooked to the USB port in the center console, everything works fine. If I was listening to the USB input when I shut the box off, when I start it again it picks up where it was on that file. I then bought a 16GB drive and also have an 8GB drive. If I am listening to the USB input with one of those drives and shut the car off, when I start it next time, it will default to the radio and I have to manually push the USB input, which says searching and then picks up where I had it last.Weird part is, if I power of the radio with the power button before I shut off the box, when I restart the box and then power on the radio it picks up where I left off on the USB drive.Anybody have any ideas to why it switches to the radio after shutting the car off unless I power of the radio first? Like I said, I don't have this issue with the old 1GB drive so it's weird. Thanks for any help or ideas!!!

Thanks for the reply. As for the sticks, they are as follow, SanDisk, 1GB FAT32, Kingston, 8GB FAT32, Dane-Elec, 16GB FAT32. Very weird problem

So an update on this problem. I tried a 2GB and 4GB stick (different brands than above) and both of these work perfectly. It seems when I get up to 8GB the problem occurs. Nothing is documented on how big is recommended but for now 4GB will work.

Yeah, the larger ones work but have the issue with reverting to the radio after a turning the key off and back on. At least with 4GB, I have a ton of music for most any driving I'll likely be doing.
