Default MA Audio

In addition to the Nav system, I'm thinking about building a custom sub enclosure. I'm thinking about running a 4 channel amp and an amp to power 2 12' MA audio subs. What experience do you guys have with them? I'm having a hard time finding any feedback on their amps and subs. Thanks - H9

Sorry can't help you, but the best place for car audio is www.sounddomain.com. Just like any message board, ignore the dummies. There is a lot of good info over there.

I have MA subs and Sub amp, I have had them both for about a year and a half, very happy with the quality and the amount of abuse they take.

There is some info on this site about MA audio but not too much. They seem to like certain brands and just stick to those. Its not too easy finding info, but it seems like the cheaply made MA stuff is really cheap, and the better stuff isn't so bad. I guess it really comes down to matching an amp with a sub and installing everything well

www.sounddomain.com isn't going to be selling stereo anymore, IIRC.

What budget do you have? You could get a lot better than MA.

It all depends on what you want, bro. If you want something decently loud, you could go with some lower end Digital Designs 12's. It all depends on a few factors. Money, how much room you're willing to sacrafice, and how you want it to sound.

Personally, I'm wanting to run a single sub set up, either a 12 or a 15. I'll be throwing about 2400watts RMS to it. So it'll be loud, but it'll still sound good.

Resonant Engineering is a pretty good company. FI car audio could get you set up with some decent subs, as well. check them out at www.ficaraudio.com.

I guess I'm not sure how crazy I want to get just yet. The set up I was looking at was 1600watts RMS.

I don't really want to sacrifice space, and I'm still brainstorming how to do all this. I'm thinking about ditching the spare and raising the trunk floor a few inches with MDF to be able to put two 12s.

I also threw around the idea of a 15, but I listen to a fair amount of rock.

As far as a budget for amp and subs, I guess I was thinking between 500 and 700, but that's just a rough number.

All your feedback is appreciated

Depending on how handy you are, you could build your own enclosure. That's the best IMO. I've built a couple enclosures from this guy, www.hexibase.com. He also has a forum, www.hexibase.com/forum.
He's starting his own line of enclosures. You could run 2 Digital Designs 1508 8" subwoofers in one of his "hellboy" enclosures and I'm pretty positive you won't be unhappy.

There's just sooooo many options. Lol! I like the most bang for my buck.

Are you planning on replacing your stock H/U? Cause I would and have.

I've build 3 different enclosures out of MDF. One ported box that I just threw in the trunk of my civic, and then a floor mounted one in the same civic and my dad's fx35. I'm not too worried about the enclosure though.

As for the headunit, I'm still undecided. I think I will get the scion nav. system(not aftermarket because I want to retain the steering wheel controls and ipod connector)but probably use a multi channel amp for the other speakers.

You can get an adapter from PAC to retain factory steering wheel controls and most aftermarket H/U's have ipod as well.

midgethearsexb on this site has the Pioneer AVIC D3 installed in his xB2. He loves it. He's kept the factory steering wheel controls, too.

The stock nav H/U doesn't have RCA preouts. Just a headsup.

Did you want to spend 500-700 for amp/sub/wire/etc or for amp/sub/wire/HU/etc?

yeah, I think the preouts is the only thing that makes me think that I should look aftermarket. I'm just having a hard time deciding

You are responding too fast! Anyway, the 500-700 was just for sub and amp. I was expecting to pay about 1300 for a nav/dvd unit(looking at stock or the AVIC D2)
