The first "anything" always takes a ton of time that you don't re-coop.
It probably took a couple hours to make the fiberglass shell, then a couple more to stack and shape the foam, then a couple more to make the initial pattern, sew the cover and install it, plus material.
I'm working it out now and we can do just about any color, fabric, etc.
Let me figure out what I can front for the first 20 or so to get going. I figure we can make "bases" and cover them to customer specs or provided material.

Depending on cost, I would even be willing to front you money for one.

To keep costs low, I think you should just standardize on one spec so you can purchase materials in bulk just for that one spec.

I don't think it'll be too big of a deal to make some standards and leave some uncovered for custom guys.
I actually have a welding/fabrication shop (metal, fiberglass, etc.) and the upholstery shop is next door so we work together.
Since there's so much interest, I want this to be a complete kit so it's easy to install. He's checking some of the cost but we also have to come up with a solution to the hole left behind when you remove the stock armrest. Otherwise, you'd have to keep the stocker in the "up" position and make the new rest a little more narrow. Just so it still flips up to access the compartment.
Nothing is easy, but it's worth it!

Gotta do some "real" work but I'll get this going as soon as I can.

wow, count me in when you start selling it. it would be even cooler if the top of the armrest opens up to another storage bin. Dual storage.....

Default armrest removal

9er,

Was there anything fancy about removing the existing "armrest" attached to the driver's seat?

Thanks!

BTW, depending on price, I am in on the revamped armrests as well.
