Default My New Mod

I wanted to have my Nav unit playing a video when I showed my car at local Cruise Nights, but didn't want to have my key left in the ignition for obvious reasons. So this weekend I hooked up a two position rocker switch to the accessory connection going to Nav unit. One side is the accessory (switched) power and the other side is tied into a non-switched (always hot) power source. Now the majority of the time I keep the switch in the normal position and the head unit works as usual and in the other position, I can have a video playing with no key in the ignition! Works great! BTW... It was one of those projects I forget to take pictures until the job was done!

Like I said in my post, that I didn't take any pictures during the mod, but here is the switch installed. It works great! I can power up the Navigation, listen to music, or watch a video without having to start the car or use the key.

My thoughts exactly! When I worked for Acura, if we spent more than about 15-20 minutes on a navi demo to a customer in the showroom (ignition switch in access. mode and engine off) the battery would be too dead to start the car. Not sure how much power the navi uses compared to playing a DVD though.

Yeah, I thought about that too. I planned on installing a larger capacity battery, so I could still have some starting power.
