Default new interior trim kit!

Just got the interior trim kit from my local Scion dealer, 5 pieces - the dash oval around the stereo and vents and 4 arm rest overlays. They come out of the box in silver , but I had mine painted body color at the local auto shop. I'm posting images for the first time so be patient with this O'l man!

Those look nice, they cover the parts much better than I expected them too.

Did you install them or did they paint shop do it. Just curious if it was difficult lining things up.

Also was the silver matte color like the dash or shiny?

Looks really nice!

The silver is a perfect match for the shifter column , nice matte silver. the overlays are really easy to install, degrease mounting surfaces with alcohol (91% isopropal works great!) peal backings from the back and press into place! On the oval ring, make sure you read the little sticker that says TOP before mounting! Everything lines up well, you may want to test fit before peeling the backing off just to be safe!

Personally, I think you made a great decision color matching it to the outside. Looks VERY nice! If I would have pulled the trigger on the blackberry, I would be completely copying you. With silver, I am not crazy about going with the factory silver kit for some reason. Nice job.

heres what i dont get.

Since you re-painted it anyways, couldnt you've just taken the stock trim and just painted that??

That would've saved you that 185.00 you spent

I originally hadf that in mind, however I was also thinking about how long I was going to have to drive a car without said panels! Also the thought of maybe breaking a tab during removal can be a real drag! Those lines on the shifter console looked like it would pool up with paint and drip! Also at the time of ordering the trim kit no description or illustration was given - just "five piece trim kit" So I purchased it on a hunch bot kbowing what those pieces actually were! BTW the center oval does not remove from the dash hence an overlay is the was to go - much simpler!
Have fun!

What?
The center oval doesnt come out??

Then how do you get to your radio??
It does in fact come out with a firm pull on the plastic. And the silver vents are screwed in from the back so those can be removed as well.

And as for breaking a tab taking the plastic apart, i highly doubt that is going to happen because the tabs in th 08 are reinforced and pretty sturdy.
These cars are like legos, there made to be taken apart.

there is a link on here somewhere that shows how and what comes out on the 08 xb. It is very very simple to do. Not sure where it is though. Probably have to search

^^^^
this is true... I have already pulled mine completely apart because I plan on attempting to pain them myself... someday. But anyway there is little worry of breaking the tabs as said in the previous post.
