hey how's it going? saw your car at united. it's lookin good. as for the cage, i think what go hin is trying to say is where the main bends are, there is an abnormal amount of bends in that hoop. I'm not a roll cage fabricator by trade, but do know the ins n outs of the cage. the cage i had developed and fabricated was done by oink fabrications. their lead fabricator works by day developing all the nascar/nastruck frames for toyota and their score series trucks and blueprinting and designing all the race engines. he use to work at cascade autosport in WA doing the fabrication work for a lot of wrc cars. My company's project xD features a double main hoop cage w/ a halo so that the vehicle is safe all the way around the vehicle. back to the bar in your xB, i dont see that a support structure on the vehicle as of yet. once you get the front and rear main points finished, i'd definitely like to see what your fabrication shop has in mind in finishing up the cage. As you've mentioned, the fabrication shop you are having do this makes frames for cars and what not. they should know that many bends in a single small area makes that section of the bar weak. below are links of the pics to the cage oink fabrications has done. when i get a chance i will take pics of our company project e46 m3's basic 4point cage.

please excuse the sound system in the back, the cars actually a full race vehicle but is on tour for memphis car audio this year. the system does pop out in a matter of minutes tho

I've never built a cage nor will I ever attempt to build one... i'm sorry I dont mean to attack you or your car, remind you we are only commenting to ensure you are riding in a safe environment, there's a fine line between modified and un-safe.

There is only 1 area where we can see welds in the pictures you provided. the welds I have in question are apparent in the harness bar attached to the hoop, much more apparent in the pictures in black. they seem blotched and uneven. Maybe its the angle in lighting, but the hoop still has uneccessary bends which makes me question everything else.

Again please don't take this the wrong way.

I love that car. I wanted to look at it better but everytime I seen it, it was going one way and I was going a different. LOL.. I should have stopped and looked at it, when it was at the hotel on the trailer.

The hoop does have some unwanted bends in it. As we where trying to do it without pulling the interior and still keep it all clean in there. Like I had said before. The cage. I guess I should call it a glorified harness bar right now. Is not done. I(we) need to get in there and finish all the front and rear bars. At that point I am hoping it will be done. We have already talked about doing the support peices in the bends area. Kinda like what Mike has in the xD.

cool glad we are on the same page. wasnt trying to knock your shops work, im just really concerned about the safety of it if something does happen as you've said you are dailying this thing. i dont want to see another fellow scion enthusiast getting injured by something that shouldnt be.
