power outlet emergency!
Hello all. I know I own an xD, but I just sold a new xB, and my customer is asking me about getting more power outlets installed. according to my parts manager, it can't be done. But I won't take no for an answer. I've tried searching here, but can't find anything. Can anyone help me out and let me know who will do a power outlet install?
thanks a ton!

There is no reason that additional power outlets cannot be added. It would definitely be a custom install, but not very difficult. You can grab 12 volts directly from the battery and purchase an aftermarket power outlet from Radio Shack. I plan on doing this in the next few weeks AND re-wiring the factory outlet since the damn thing shuts off when the ignition is turned off, making it impossible to charge cell phones, etc.
This was what I did on my '06 xB by replacing the ashtray...

www.accele.com
this is an awesome site for this kind of stuff. look under video acces->video games acces..
All you need is an inverter and some creativity. Run a fused wire from + on the battery to wherever the inverter is. Then use the output from the inverter and find some kind of outlet that you can flush mount with a plastic interior panel. Done.
autozone, walmart, and other local auto stores sell 12v cigarette sockets.. just get a hole saw or a unibit *if you have one that goes big enough* and find a flat piece of plastic with nothing behind it... add as many as you want and run to the ignition harness and connect to the source of your choice, constant, ignition, acc, and fuse it
