If you're doing an all out system, build your own box. Most decent sub manufacturers provide dimensions, and Lowes / Home Depot can cut full MDF sheets in the store to whatever size you need. I had them cut the panels for my JL sub box, 18 cuts from a full sheet of MDF and I was ready to assemble. The MDF was $18, $2.75 for the cuts and around $8 for screws and glue.
It does help to own a jigsaw and drill already, or know someone who does. Carpeting is easy, and auto parts store should carry it. That box looks legit, but the tweeters are complete garbage. Keep in mind though it may not be the right volume for your speaker enclosure, all 12" subs don't use the same ammount of space, which is why custom is better.
Stay away from Boss, for head units the AVIC from Pioneer is decent, I prefer Alpine, Eclipse is also good.
For amps / subs, JL does not dissappoint. Just don't pay retail for them, they aren't worth what Crutchfield wants for them. The W7 is nice but is overrated, unless you're doing an SPL competition the W6 is all you'll ever need.

really basic system, but good parts and a decent price. you'd be surprised how nice this set up sounds. seriously. i'm running 2 sets of the cdt components, 2 diamond subs, 2 ma amps, 1 farad cap, and a d3, and everyone who sits in my car thinks the sound is top notch. crazy loud and super clean.

from the reviews it looks great. just never heard of dual.
now about your links.
I have 2 polk audio 12" so i think for subs id be ok. one i think is broken. or just has a bad rattle. it may be ____e case. if u know asite that shows me the way to make a custom box or a place that makes decent boxes for polk.
Thanks again
There's a reason the Jensen and Dual so cheap. I did see a Clarion there though that looked like a pretty good deal.

If you absolutely want a fold out, they have this one:
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...+VRX485VD.html
It even has 3 sets of pre-amps for front, rear and subs.
Don't skimp on your A/V setup, it will end up costing you more when you either have to buy new stuff when it breaks or aren't happy with the performance on the bargin units.
For custom boxes, try Elemental Designs. I make my own but still have them do my trim rings since I can't cut circles for poop with a jig saw. They even called me (imagine that, customer service calling YOU!) to double check the dimensions I gave them. Have fun. You should be able to get the dimension data from the sub manufacturer.

thats the sub i have right now. im gonna look to see if i can get it fixed somewehre. do u know what type of amp could power those? maybe also add more power to the main speakers as well.
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...Enclosure.html
thats the enclosure i have its just missing a side. and it got really wet so the woods all deterioitng. ugh. sounds decent still.
the clarion is def. worth a look at. im liking the bluetooth ability of the dual though. i assume the clarion can do it wiht some modding.
oh about those speakers up on ebay. where do u put the crossover? i have never seen those b4. i've seen in alot of componnet system offers.

that clarion is really good for the money. i had a clarion in my xa and loved it. avoid the cheap brands when it comes to a headunit. you will definately regret buying cheap radios.
if you want to build your own box, use this link.

it's fairly accurate and will give you the air space you need. don't go ported. those boxes are a little trickier to build and with your set up it won't really be necessary. if i was you, i'd just run the 1 working 12" sub for now. why spend money having a sub fixed when for a few bucks more you could probably get a new one?
as far as an amp goes, is that sub dual 2 or 4 ohm coils? either way, just about anything can power it. it handles about 175rms so you don't need a monster amp or anything like that. just the same, buy a stronger amp than you need. it's better to have a more powerful amp that's not really working hard to move your subs than one that gets the job done but is pushed as hard as it goes. that's a good way to burn an amp, especially if you're like me and drive around for hours in traffic with the music blasting.
random ghetto tip. if you buy a pre fab box and it's gray, you can spray paint it black. seriously. i'm lazy and have done that in the past and it comes out absolutely perfect as long as you don't touch it. just make sure to air it out for a few days. lol.

btw, i mount my crossovers in the door panels. and cdt audio was a brand i heard about here on scionlife. i had polk components and wasn't totally in love with them. they sound great, but they get a little sharp sometimes. so when i saw that deal for the cdt's i went ahead and ordered them. best speakers i've ever had. really smooth highs, great mids, and awesome range. no complaints at all.

nah. save your money. i personally don't like buying second hand subs unless i know how they were treated.
i thought clarions were blue. mines was. not sure about that model though.
as long as you have a pre outs, you can run subs. you're golden with that unit.

No name on them but high quality.
Wow, def. pass on that swap meet garbage listing. I have no problem buying used, but if you do buy used, do it in person and being an ohm meter with you to make sure the coils aren't blown. Jesus there's nothing in your area on CL, around DC there's too much, it's hard sorting through them all.

i think unless a better deal for a HU comes out. around the price range of that clarion i will most likely go with that.
2. get amp and sub enclosere (bandpass)
3. Those speakers u listed.
4. go back to lighting.
*____ my needs matinece light is on. so there goes about 75+100 ( i need a interior and exterior overhaul, clean, wax thing) so this may have to get pushed back till late sept or oct. when i have another DJ job. but i want to say thanks to all of u. and keep droppign ideas. im going to frequent this thread as it may be useful for other members as well. if u have any more input drop it!!!
I'm not a fan of flipouts. Having owned one and recently traded it for a regular single DIN Pioneer Premier unit. I'm happier with the Premier unit because it has a ton of extra SQ features.
Now bandpass? Are there any reasons you particularly want to go with bandpass other than aesthetics? There's a lot that goes into a properly designed bandpass enclosure and they can most definitely sound good. I've had a 4th order bandpass in my car before I built my current horn.
What's your overall budget? I can help you better that way.

if i can find something better in the same range that would be crazy cool
i actually know jack ____ about amp, bass, box, speaker. same thing with PRo audio. i have always focused on the source more or less. Turntables, mixers and ____. nevver speakers. idk why.
so i have two Polk GNX124's one may be broken but fixable. the other is fine 12' 4ohm things. i have a box but its falling apart and i know its a band pass and still sounds halfway decent. total im willing to spend on bass? 200. i have all my dj gear i have to cram in my car some days. so i huge box system won't work at all. so maybe two 12's spaced out or something . (under seat???) as gar as car speakers in general i liked the ones that were suggested earlier so thats an open ball park. HU comes first.
If you know of any great deals on HU's like the ones im looking for let me know.
I have the clarion in top right now because its decent price. better than jensen and dual. just not as much of a l.e.d. blue light up as id like but meh. what can u do?
whoo that was long. :D
That Clarion double DIN is a good unit. I installed one in an Escalade a couple months ago.
Clarions are pretty decent. Especially for that gangster of a price! Wow!
Those subs seem pretty decent. I'd definitely look into getting aproperly ported enclosure built. You can just use the one. I wouldn't give the sub more than like 200watts.
For an enclosure, I'd say build your box about 1.25cubic feet and use a Precision Sound Products 4" aeroport. You can find those at www.partsexpress.com. I'd leave the port about 20" long. That would give you a tuning around 35hz. Perfect for a lot of hip hop.
If you need any help, I'll do what I can.
