Steering Wheel Covers?
 

I tried a few "universal" steering wheel covers from Wally World and Autozone but none of them fit very well. Basically they were too big to fit tightly so they slipped and looked loose.

So what's a good steering wheel cover for my 08 xB? Leather preferred but not required. TIA

Yeah, pepboys is the only place where you can find anything that fits the xD/xB steering wheel!

Thanks. I guess I'd prefer a custom leather wrapped wheel but I can't see spending over $200 for the Scion wheel when all I need is something less slippery than the cheap, hard oem plastic.

I got the one like Trevors from Amazon. Well built & didn't slip but increased the diameter just enough to fatigue my hands (which are pretty big) when driving so I took it off.

I'll check these out too because while the wheel is comfortable I don't like the feel of plastic.

I have a slip-on cover on my other car and at first it felt too big but now that I'm used to it I love it. I think I'll go with the wheelskin cover because it won't make the wheel as thick as a slip-on and although the lacing doesn't look oem, it still looks better than the large opening left with slip-on covers.

I don't really mind the oem plastic wheel most of the year but it feels very hard and slippery in cold weather. I usually wear gloves to get a good grip in winter but don't always want to. I'm trying to decide between solid charcoal and 2-tone black/charcoal or charcoal/gray.

It will slip if I haul on the wheel with the engine off without tightening my grip (no power steering assist), otherwise, it doesn't slip. It's been on now for three years.

Different strokes I guess :)! The additional fatness is just perfect for me, makes it feel more natural and comfortable in use.

Thanx. Is your cover black or charcoal? I can't decide which color would match the oem wheel better. Maybe I should go with black to match my new seat covers? Decisons, decisions...

Mine is black -- it complements the dark gray wheel. (Also have black HVAC and shift console panels, shift boot, armrests, and aux jack panel -- but all that came much later.) The cover may actually have been under $10, but definitely not more than $13, been a little while :)!

Thanx Trevor. I decided to go with a wheelskins cover in charcoal with red lacing to match my new Clazzios red stitching.

FYI, I ordered it from Wheelskins Outlet for $39.50 shipped. I actually found them on ebay and at numerous other stores for a lot less than buying factory direct.

The FYI part was for others who might like wheelskins. I wish I preferred the PVC slip-on covers too so I could save $25 and an hour spent lacing the cover but I like the smell and feel of leather a lot. I also passed on the euro-tone covers because I don't like having seams at 2-10 o'clock where I grip the wheel. :)

Yeah, 2-10 normally works for me too, but not with the xB2. The relationship between the drivers seat and steering wheel for me dictate a left hand on roughly the 7-8pm position and my right hand on the shift knob. IMO (and from infrastructure reviews as well), Toyota/Scion screwed up the driver position on these cars and so it's up to us to determine what serves us best. If 2-10 works for you, then that's great, it doesn't even come close for me.

I have to sit more upright than I like to maintain the 2-10 grip comfortably but I feel like I have very diminished control at anything less than 3-9 where Scion thoughtlessly placed spokes. The steering wheel should be 1-2" closer to the seat IMO.

I agree, the steering wheel should be able to be moved closer to the driver's seat (thereby solving the problem). Unfortunately, even the 2011 refresh fails to improve on that situation -- it supports only greater distance to the steering wheel, not less :(! I need a degree of lay back for back comfort and the only way I can make the xB2 configuration work is for way less than 2-10. Still, whatever works for you or anyone else is good :)! My issue is mine!

Driving position seems to still be an issue with these things and I can only imagine it was worse before the telescoping wheel. I'm still not 100% comfortable although I was pleasantly suprised at the lack of discomfort when I just drove 14 hours S. Fla to E. Tennessee.

I'm 6' 1" and with the seat all the way back I still have to have a serious recline on the seat back to feel comfortable. Even with the wheel all the way out I'm still wishing it extended another 2".

Ah well.....I guess you can only expect so much out of a $18,000 vehicle :)
