What is it for? My ipod fits in the edge of it.. but there has to more to it.

i do beleive it is there to drop your ipod or other mp3 player in, since it is right in front of the input ports ...

mine holds the remote for my D3x ... and the occasional change ... paper clips .. and other stuff thta don't make it into the console ...

A weird hole indeed. Doesnt really fit anything all that well but you can definitely throw things in it.

 

Yeah, I could never quite figure out what we're supposed to put in there.

 

Keys and remote in mine. Ipod relocated to the inside about a month after purchasing the B.

 

I trimmed the hell of the free cup rubber thingy that used to sit in the 1st cup holder. I made it fit in the odd shaped hole...

 

from the looks of it.. it LOOKS like it could be a possible storage tray like an ash tray goes in there?.. with a hinged lid.. and the lid would be flat on top and you could flip it back and it would go down that straight part in the back.. maybe a coin tray or something.. but i don't know

 

Kinda funny no one really knows what it is for.
